“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:11
What does it mean to live in community at Bethlehem Lutheran Church? People, not just family and lifelong friends, long to feel as if they belong to a congregation. How does Bethlehem promote a sense of belonging to this particular community of faith? Remember that we all long and hunger to be known and loved. If Jesus is the Good Shepherd, then he seems to want to hold his flock together even if it means he must die for it. He calls out to us to come to him and belong.
God, you created us to live in community. As we struggle with our own individual wants and needs, remind us of the blessings of connectedness. Shepherd us, O God, as your beloved flock. Amen.
