Mind the Gap

 Dear Fellow Disciples,

In his most recent book, Letters to the Church, pastor and teacher Francis Chan challenges us to consider the images that come to mind when we think of the New Testament church. Then he challenges us to consider the churches in our present day that we are familiar with. Do they resemble each other? If not, where are the gaps?

As Lutherans, we believe in the ongoing Reformation of the church. I know there are many jokes about Lutherans resisting change, but I find those ironic because we, of all Christians, should be ones leading changes that draw us to be more faithful to Jesus and the Scriptures.

Memory Verses for the Year of Prayer
Philippians 4:6-7:
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
