Reconstruction of 127 Street from 118 Avenue to Yellowhead Trail began May 1.
Phase 3 Night Closures
127 Street will be completely closed from 8 pm
to 6 am
the nights of September 18
, with possible carry-over the night of September 20
. These closures are to complete final paving work.
Drivers are advised to detour using St. Albert Trail or 121 Street.
- Base asphalt and concrete work.
- Drainage work.
- All traffic signals operational.
- Streetlights will be complete as of September 18.
- Final paving on September 18 and 19.
- Pavement markings to be completed after final paving.
The project is ahead of schedule. All work is expected to be complete for September 30, with the exception of tree planting in 2017. Traffic will remain as one lane in each direction until the end of September for completion of sod, pavement markings, paving stones, and other minor works.
Traffic barriers across 124 Street at 123 Avenue remain in place as part of the Prince Charles Community Traffic Management Plan
with suggested detours to St. Albert Trail, 121 Street, 142 Street, 149 Street and 97 Street.
The implications of reinstating 124 Street as a detour, even temporarily, are significant for Prince Charles as it would see a return of 4,000-6,000 vehicles per day, as well as additional detour traffic adjacent to the neighbourhood park and residential properties during the summer months when more people are out and about. Street signs are in place to direct parents to the three schools in the area during construction.
