Rents for social housing from 2020-21 


The government has published its response to the consultation on rents for social housing from 2020-21 launched in September last year and confirmed its new social rent policy from April 2020 onwards for at least the next 5 years. Read more

4,677 people rough sleeping in England 


Latest government figures show that the total number of people sleeping rough on a single night in England was 4,677. The latest figures come as the government issues a consultation paper seeking views on how it could improve local accountability for the delivery of homelessness services. Read more

Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 


The government has issued guidance for tenants, landlords and local authorities on their rights and responsibilities under the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2012 which comes into force on 20 March 2018. Read more

DWP responds to 53 week rent year issue 


At a recent meeting with DWP officials held to update and consult sector representatives regarding implementation of Universal Credit, the issue of the 53-week rent year was again discussed. Read more
