March Brings a Full Month of Activities at AWANA

AWANA starts off the month of March with our Grand Prix Check Night where all planning to participate in the Grand Prix should bring in their finished, painted car to ensure it meets the AWANA standards for size, weight. They can also take a test run down the track with their car. We’ll be available beginning at 5:15 for those who need help with wheels or weights.  Once checked in, we’ll keep the cars in a secure location until race day.

The AWANA Grand Prix will take place from 1-3:30 pm on March 7. Be sure to invite your friends and family to watch the race with you and your Clubbers, whether you have a car in the race or not. Ribbons will be presented to all race participants and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category: Sparks, T&T, and “Unlimited” which includes all other racers.

AWANA Store Night will be on March 15. This will be our third AWANA Store of the year so the Clubbers can choose to spend the AWANA shares they have collected so far or can continue to collect their shares for our final AWANA Store Night in June.

On March 22, our Clubbers will learn about the Underground Church and get a glimpse of what it’s like to be a Christian in a country where they would be persecuted for their faith.

We will close the month with AWANA B Night on March 29. Clubbers are encouraged to dress up this night as who they would like to be or what profession they want to be in when they grow up.

It's Time for the AWANA Grand Prix

On Saturday, March 7 we will hold the AWANA Grand Prix with racing set to begin at 1 pm. During the event there will be separate competitions for Sparks, T&T and Unlimited (everyone else) divisions with the cars being judged in the speed and design categories. Trophies will be presented for the top three finishers in each category.

Check in for the race will begin at 12 noon and will remain open until 1 pm. During check in each car will receive a computer-generated number to ensure the car is properly placed in the staging area to race. Our AWANA volunteers will be on hand to assist the Clubbers with checking in and during that time the Clubbers can visit the Pit Crew (if the car is not yet checked in). Our Pit Crew can also assist with last minute adjustments and assist with any  necessary repairs during the race day.

We will also have concessions available for sale to support our Summer camp scholarship programs. For additional information about the 2020 AWANA Grand Prix contact Norah at 703-200-8677 or by email at nharmon@capitalbaptist.org.

We’re bringing Summer camp to Annandale

Join Us July 27 to 31 for Connect Camp

We get that you want to give your kids a great summer, but finding high-quality, local activities that you and your kids both love is difficult. Connect Camps is a one-week day camp filled with non-stop fun, engaging activities, daily faith-based lessons, and the chance to make lasting friendships.  This year, Capital Baptist Church will be a host site for Connect Camp!

Connect Camps, operated by Connect Ministries, is committed to teaching Christ-centered truths each day to every camper. The foundations taught will be engaging and memorable so kids can hide these truths in their hearts and grow in their faith. This is done by establishing an environment that is both physically and emotionally safe. From a secure check-in and check-out process, to thoroughly vetted and trained counselors — the camp’s staff members take great care at every turn.

Because we believe that every child deserves to have a place where they feel like they belong, Connect Camps supply a variety of activities and a carefully trained staff to engage with each camper. This allows the kids to be uniquely themselves while connecting with others through team-based activities. And because relationships formed at camp shouldn’t end when camp is over, they create an environment that fosters new friendships between campers as well as between campers and local church families all year long.

Connect Camps are designed to be fun and physically active through high-quality, engaging activities. Kids learn and build relationships through play, so play is used to connect kids to Jesus through people who love Jesus.

Registration for this year’s camp will open on March 15 and $50 reserves your spot. Visit connectcamps.com/annandale/ for additional information or for registration information.
