It’s so awesome to see God working in our lives! This year hasn't been an easy or predictable one, but God’s blessing is so evident! Without God’s grace, courageous and faithful leaders, dedicated families, and video conferencing technology, this year of AWANA online would not have been possible. While we miss the in-person fellowship very much, the online structure allowed for more individualized attention and discipleship and allowed some children to focus on the lesson more fully. The directors’ incorporation of media and interactive teaching, really helped keep the kids engaged. We so appreciate Parents/Caregivers’ faithfulness in connecting the children with us each week!

Our endless thanks to the leaders, parents, and other caregivers who supported the children in studying and learning God’s Word, mentoring, listening to verses, and teaching lessons throughout the year!! Your commitment of time and energy to helping children know, love, and serve God will pay dividends for eternity!

AWANA Awards Celebration

We are so excited to announce our end-of-the-year AWARDS celebration will be both online and in-person (outdoors at Capital). We will celebrate the children’s accomplishments in a family-focused ceremony on Sunday, June 6th! We encourage your entire family to join us!

We will have a boxed dinner and a time of fellowship beginning at 5 pm! The final Children’s store will be available in the gym beginning at 5 as well. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6 pm; seating and awards will be by the family group. Family sign-ups are required, to ensure enough food and enable social distancing. During the ceremony, we will recognize each person who’s participated, present book awards, celebrate graduations, and announce clubbers of the year! Please don’t miss this opportunity to encourage your children through your attendance to celebrate all they’re learning and give them a chance to celebrate their friend’s accomplishments as well!

For those not comfortable being on campus yet and to allow out-of-town clubbers and guests to attend, we will broadcast the ceremony live via Zoom at 6 pm EDT and intend to display the Zoom screen so those on-site can see our online families as well.

Reminder — Completion Deadline Approaching

May 28, is the very last day to complete books and assignments to be awarded this year. it is recommended that your child confirm their remaining requirements with their leader THIS Sunday and layout a plan to meet their goal for this. Please contact your child’s Director or the Commander if you have any questions.

Congratulations to Arielle Lamptey-Nanda who earned T&T Clubber of the Month for 15 February - 31 March. Final winners will be announced at the awards ceremony for April-May.

Last Chance - AWANA Global Outreach Campaign

Heartfelt thanks to our Sparks and T&T Clubbers who’ve worked to earn quarters this year to provide an opportunity for a child in another part of the world to attend AWANA for the first time! $10 will let a child attend AWANA for a whole year. If your clubber hasn’t yet met the 40 quarter goal, this may be a good time to reinvigorate his/her efforts. Offerings of less than $10 are absolutely welcome. The last day to submit AWANA GO offerings is on Awards Ceremony Day, Jun 6th.

AWANA GO provides an opportunity for Clubbers to make a difference through their personal effort in the life of a child in another part of the world. In addition to helping spread the Gospel, if they turn in 40 quarters, Sparks will earn a patch for their uniform and T&T will be halfway complete with their requirement (see page 7 of the T&T handbook for more info).

Children's Ministry at Capital

CBC Children’s Ministry continues Sunday classes in person and online at www.capitalevents.church. We hope you’ll check our children’s worship and discipleship offerings for preschool through grade 6.

Overnight Summer Camp — June 21-25

High Point is an overnight camp with a jam-packed week of excitement for kids entering grades 3-7 in the fall. Each day campers are immersed in God’s Word through cabin devotions, one-on-one time with their counselor, and a chapel speaker. The lessons are designed to show campers how God’s Word can make an impact in your life, right here and right now. Capital Connect Camp — July 12-16

This is a first for the Annandale community, hosted at Capital. Connect Camp is a one-week Day Camp for children completing grades K-6th grade and is an experience that your kids will never forget. Each day is filled with non-stop fun, engaging activities, daily faith-based lessons, and the chance to make lasting friendships. Capital Vacation Bible School

Capital Youth Camp

Don’t let your teenager miss out on this transformational experience at Word of Life Camp in New York. This camp offers nonstop, high-energy activities, engaging speakers, dynamic workshops, brand new friends, and a connection with God like they have never experienced. It is Christ-centered fun and a spiritually enriching adventure.
