Firstly: Why are you receiving this newsletter?

In order to improve and expand communications to Burghfield Sailing Club members and supporters, we have decided to renovate the previously very successful Burghfield Breeze.  You are receiving this newsletter as you have either, previously been a subscriber to the newsletter, or you are a current member of Burghfield Sailing Club.

If you no longer wish to receive news and information about the club, sailing and social activities, please use the unsubscribe option at the bottom of the page.  Please note that the newsletter subscription list is ONLY for club news and information.  Your details will not be passed to any third parties.  If you have any questions or problems with the newsletter, please contact Sharon
As a members club we rely on volunteers.  However, we do understand that sometimes plans change at late notice and we will do what we can to help.  At the moment we're looking for volunteers for the following duties / events.  If you are able to help, it would be very much appreciated.  Please contact the Sharon/Virginia in the Club Office

It would be greatly appreciated if duties could be confirmed on the DutyMan system as soon as possible after a duty has been allocated.  If you are having problems using DutyMan, please contact Sharon

We are starting to work our way round the boat park to check boat stickers. Please ensure you have put your stickers on boats and trailers (preferably where we can see them!).  If you need additional/replacement stickers, please pop into the club office.

Dates for your Diary - May 2015

Burghfield Sailing Club &
BSTC Open Day 2015

Saturday 16th May
12 - 4

Saturday 16th of May sees the the Club and Sailing School open the doors again to welcome anyone who would like to find out more about learning sailing and racing at Burghfield.  Weather permitting, there will be the chance for all visitors to get out on the water with our crews and experience the fun of sailing.

Visitors should bring a spare set of clothes and shoes on the day, something to change into if they get wet. Hot food will be available all day in the Club House where everyone can relax and talk to other club members to gain an insight into the activities at this flourishing sailing venue.

If you enjoy sailing at Burghfield please encourage your friends, neighbours and colleagues to come a give us a try. The more the merrier.

And that signals a time for change.  If you've been down at the club recently hopefully you will have noticed that inside has had a lick of paint!

In addition, there are changes in the office.  We said a fond farewell to Pat who decided to retire after 15 years in the office!  Still an active member of the club, Pat can be found around the boat park most weekends.

Spring has also seen the start of the Open meeting season for many classes.  The club welcomed sailors from the Blaze, National 12, OK, Solo, Streaker and Comet classes in varying conditions earlier in the month. Reports from the meetings can be found on the website, along with links to photo galleries / media reports.

Over the Easter holidays Fiona Baddeley organised a couple of very successful training sessions for some of Burghfield's younger sailors (& a couple of friends).  The Laser 4.7s spent 2 light wind days training in glorious sunshine, closely followed by
3 days training for 3 groups of Optimists.  The training was rounded off with an Easter Egg hunt and plenty of chocolate prizes!  Additional training is planned for the May half term holiday - please keep an eye on the website.

Every Wednesday evening from 15 April - 12 August 2015.   A great start to the series - 66 boats for Race1 and 51 for Race2! The aim of the Wednesday evening series is to provide racing which is inviting to members who have little or no racing experience; yet challenging
and competitive to those who have been racing for years.  See the website for more details and an explanation of the handicap system.
