To: Burghfield Sailing Club, Sailability and Berkshire Sail Training Centre
So as we move into 2016 and a new year of Sailing, I trust that it will bring you success both at home and at any event you may be considering throughout the year.
I also expect that a number of you have seen the piece in the Newbury Weekly News, regarding the proposed development for "Burghfield Lakes", effectively the area between the drive and the canal and the horseshoe at the start of the Lake. You may be aware of a number of contractors on site in the weeks leading up to Christmas, undertaking further survey work, documenting the trees and areas of scientific interest and digging a 100 holes for groundworks assessment.
Yes, all of this is to do with the proposal for houses around the Club driveway and the redevelopment of the Club itself. We are in direct contact with Floodline, Larkfleet and the Architects throughout the process and are reviewing the proposals as they move forward. As this is under a Non-disclosure Agreement full information is difficult to share.
However, the press release in NWN, talks about development outlining the proposed 224 houses; 200 Traditional and 24 Can-Float, under "Berfeld". This is a joint venture between Floodline and Larkfleet. This is not uncommon in the industry as it allows the development to progress, without risk to the holding organisation(s)

A sub committee, led by Peter Colvin, is working closely on the Club development, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Lease extension with a view to agreeing a position between Floodline, The Pru and ourselves in the very near future. This committee will draw on others in the coming weeks. Please be advised that our best of intentions for all aspects of the site are paramount in our discussions and that the developers constantly refer to the Sailing and Life Style aspects in their comments.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions or have a professional interest, please direct them to Peter Colvin in the first instance. Be assured that we will be looking to provide an update to the Club towards the end of January, seeking your feedback and views as we move forward.
