RS200 Ladies Day - 4th July

Burghfield Sailing Club is looking forward to hosting the prestigious, and somewhat glamorous, Ladies Day.

There will be four races: two in the morning and two in the afternoon. All races are windward/leeward.
Briefing is at 10:30 and the first race is at 11:15.

The Galley will be open from 9 - 3 and after sailing there will be tea, cake and much Prosecco. Chaps are welcome but only as crews!

Oppie Camp will take place at the club between 17 - 19 July.  It's going to be busy and loud and a huge amount of fun!

If you are an Oppie Club regular and haven't signed up for Oppie Camp yet, or you have registered but have forgotten to pay please contact Paul as soon as possible.

Saturday Sailing

Do you know your Port from your Starboard
Ever wondered what the kicker does? Want to go faster?  Want to know the basics of racing? Want FREE coaching? Want to sail in a relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere with expert advice on hand?  If this sounds like you then the Saturday Sailing Sessions are perfect!

Every Saturday afternoon throughout the summer, the club offers sailing development and fun, family, friendly sessions to help members improve all aspects of their sailing.  Full details can be found on the website or contact Kevin Druce or Virginia for more details.

This Saturday (4th July) will be an introduction to Rules.

Safety Boat Training & Refreshers

We have a coupleof members who have PB2 but
would like some practice, and a couple of experienced PB2 helms who would like to volunteer as safety boat officers rather than assistants.  If you would also like to be considered for one of these groups, please let us know and we will arrange some dates.

Missing Something?

We have a large collection of lost property in the office.  Everything in the office was misplaced before the Club Open Day.  Since then, it has all been washed and dried, folded and boxed but if still
unclaimed at the end of the month, will be donated to worthy causes.  So, if you've lost something please send a comprehensive description to the Club Office and we'll try and reunite you (for a small donation to SailAbility!).

Any recently misplaced items should be in the changing rooms.

Tidying the Boat Park

We are in the process of clearing some of the empty boat park spaces for new members and members with additional boats.
If you are planning to tidy up your own boat space, please could you remove all your clippings either to the bonfire pile or off-site.

The Mystery of Miss Perkins

At the back of the carpark, overgrown with weeds lies a seemingly abandoned hull/boat - Miss Perkins.  Does she belong to you? Do you know anything about her? If so, please contact Sharon in the Club Office.

Club Boats

The Club boats are proving very popular at the moment - especially on Wednesday evenings and for Saturday Sailing.

If you would like to use a club boat, are an experienced sailor but don't have the required RYA Level 2 qualification, please contact the office so we can arrange a session to sign off your experience and allow you to book out one of the boats.
We are looking for a Radial Rig and Sail to add to the 4.7/Standard rigs we have available at the moment.  If you have an unused radial bottom section and / or sail that you might be willing to donate to the club, please let us know.

RNLI / Sailability Charity Challenge Donations

Many thanks to all those who made donations to the RNLI/Sailability Challenge.  The club raised a little over £215 which has been split 50:50 between Burghfield Sailability and the RNLI - Thank You!

The Wednesday Evening series continues to be very popular with both new & experienced racers.  We have a new highest personal handicap since the series began in 2004 with one of the Optimist Sailors staring off +11 minutes!   Racing starts at 18:50, followed by sailors suppers at approx. 8pm (don't forget to book before sailing. More Details.

If you have any news from recent sailing events or activities, please send details, reports and photos to Sharon/Virginia (
