Summer is here... almost. And it's a hot one!

Stop in and refresh your mind with inspirational items seeking creative reuse. Our cool basement shop is full of new oil paints, watercolor sets, dyes, glass samples, tile, and unique ceramics. Stop in this week to see work by this month's featured artist, Bethany Rose Rusen, in our gallery. Join us for a workshop with her on Sunday, the 19th. Remember to like us on facebook for up-to-date info on what's new in the store and how Philadelphia's creative types are putting our materials to good (re)use!
reCreate

The Resource Exchange is dedicated to enabling and promoting creative reuse in local art, craft, and design. Have you reCreated with materials from RE? Send us photos with a brief description of your work -- we'll feature new works in each newsletter, online, and in our store. Want to lead an art-from-the-arts workshop? Submit a proposal!

reCreate featured artist: Bethany Rose Rusen
Bethany Rusen [BFA Tyler School of Art '03, MFA UMass Dartmouth '10] draws on a wide variety of interests, materials, theories, and personal histories to construct her mixed media, site-responsive sculptural objects. Her work explores the visceral and emotional aspects of body experience. Her work has been exhibited nationally at a variety of venues, including Texas Tech University, Boston University and Concordia University in Minnesota. She is currently the ceramics studio manager at Main Line Art Center in Haverford, PA. Rusen creates mixed media and found object sculptures with reclaimed radio tubes, sprinkler heads and spare parts and lumber from The Resource Exchange. She has also developed large scale installations with found object assemblage, including Personal Possession as part of her recent residency at the Please Touch Museum.
