Back to School!

All school supplies are half off or more of their original prices!  Fall is right around the corner, and that means it's time to go back to school, do you have everything you need to start the year off right?  We have supplies for students of all disciplines, including artists.

reCreate

The Resource Exchange is dedicated to enabling and promoting creative reuse in local art, craft, and design. Have you reCreated with materials from RE? Send us photos with a brief description of your work -- we'll feature new works in each newsletter, online, and in our store.
reCreate featured artist: Dylan Devleiger
Dylan creates sculptures, gardens, and drawings that all utilize and bring attention to materials that are often thought of as disposable or useless.  Dylan, our reCreate featured artist of the month and staff member, creates work that seeks to change our everyday relationship with both art and the environment.  Dylan incorporates both reclaimed material and wild plant materials into his work.  Using these things that are often overlooked as both the subject and medium for his work, Dylan's work highlights our relationship with both our natural and man made environments.
Making Ink & Dye with Weeds!

On August 25th Dylan will be giving a workshop on ink and dye making from weeds and native plants. The workshop will teach people how to identify and use wild plants to make reliable inks and dyes. Participants will learn to make several different inks and dyes including pokeberry ink, the ink that was used to sign Declaration of Independence.
