 Art-from-the-Arts Design Challenge
Our creative reuse warehouse is filled with an ever-changing inventory of reusable material saved from Philadelphia's creative industries.
In conjunction with DesignPhiladelphia, we're challenging you to generate new works from these previously wasted resources.
  1. industry: performing arts -- material: lauan
  2. industry: visual arts -- material: art slides
  3. industry: fashion / textiles -- material: fabric remnants [<one square foot]
  4. industry: digital arts / new media -- material: compact discs
Prizes will be given for the best submissions! Bonus points for project examples [pictures/links] from your own life or from your favorite artists and makers!
Visit our blog during DesignPhiladelphia to learn more about each material --
how it's made, why it's used, and where it ends up.
Teach a little one you love about creative reuse by helping them make their own costume, or come in and grab something unique for your own!

We're expanding!
By now you've heard about our expanded hours [Thursday-Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 12-4pm]. But did you know our square footage has increased as well? Our loading dock now includes new space for lumber storage, and... workshops! Come by and explore our new space -- this Thursday we'll be getting creative out there for reInspire as part of DesignPhiladelphia.

The Resource Exchange is dedicated to enabling and promoting creative reuse in local art, craft, and design. Have you reCreated with materials from re? Send us photos with a brief description of your work -- we'll feature new works in each newsletter, online, and in our store.

“Like A Child” [acrylic on printed fabric 46" x 50”]
"I believe we are all children at heart. I chose a fun fabric from Resource Exchange and a crayon color pallet to explore the joy of childlike play in our lives. This painting speaks to the place where we can roam in the creative and not concern ourselves about coloring inside the lines."
