Welcome back! We are one week into our return to school after our holiday break and welcoming our in-person learners back to the building.
A couple of notes for us as we look ahead.
1. Transitioning to in-person learning - January 11th, 2021
Students will be returning to classes on Monday morning. A reminder to enter your assigned doors and follow all the same protocols in place prior to going home. Staff will be at each door if there are questions needing to be answered.
Student attendance will continue to be tracked in the same way it was prior to at-home learning. If you registered to move online for semester 2, in-person attendance is expected for the remainder of semester 1. If you choose to keep your child home in the days to come, please have them reach out to their teachers to ensure they know when assessments are occurring so they can finish their courses well.
3. Final Exams
BCHS will not be administering traditional final exams this semester. Teachers will give students the opportunity to improve their grade through re-writes or other methods due to the interruptions caused by COVID-19 protocols in semester 1.
This will look different in each discipline. It could mean a student attends school from January 25 - 27th to show skills in a CTS class like Foods or Mechanics to achieve credits. It could also be a re-write of an earlier unit test in mathematics that would allow students the opportunity to improve their grade.
These opportunities will not be optional for students who are failing their courses but will be optional for students in a passing position. Teachers will ensure students are aware of these opportunities as we conclude the semester and more communication will come from the school in the weeks ahead.
We are grateful for your support and look forward to Monday.
