News of Blakeney Gig and Fund Raising Activities from Paul at WCB Comedy.
WCB Comedy’s founder Paul Dunn (me) and his pal Miles from Southrepps are raising money for SeeAbility who are a charity for blind people with autism and learning difficulties.
Three activities we need to tell you about:
  • New Blakeney Comedy Gig.
  • Paul and his Pal Miles are running effectively 3 marathons in the space of a month.
  • We are auctioning a lavish three night stay at the Wolterton Hall Estate in a 5 star luxury Grade 2 listed Treasury Lodge.
SeeAbility is the oldest charity in the UK celebrating 220 years this year after founding as the Royal  School for the Blind in 1799.
The Gig
On 25th May, WCB Comedy welcomes Mitch Benn to headline their first show at Blakeney Harbour Room. Mitch will be performing a hilarious headline set alongside comedy circuit legend and opening act John Mann. The night will be held together by our fantastic MC Jason Stampe and further supported by the wonderful Ali Warwood. See preview video below.

Mitch Benn is not only one of the most sought-after acts on the comedy but is widely acknowledged as one of the best writer/performers of comic songs in the country. Mitch began his comedy career in Edinburgh before moving to London quickly establishing himself as a comedy club "headliner" as well as a favourite on the university circuit. Mitch is a regular writer and performer on "The Now Show" for BBC Radio 4 and "It's Been a Bad Week" for BBC Radio 2. Three series of his successful Radio 4 show, "Mitch Benn's Crimes Against Music" have been broadcast so far. He also presents "The Mitch Benn Music Show" on BBC Radio 7.
John Mann appears regularly at most of the UK's top comedy clubs and has performed extensively in clubs and at festivals around the world. He is a popular compere on the UK comedy circuit and appears regularly at Jongleurs clubs nationwide. He has toured with Phill Jupitus and Lenny Henry and has appeared on numerous TV comedy shows. He has written for Harry Enfield, Paul O'Grady, Gina Yashere and Jasper Carrott, and was a writer for both The 11 O'Clock Show and The Big Breakfast as well as its replacement R.I.S.E.

Jason Stampe delivers an outstanding blend of jokes and crowd interaction that will leave you feeling he must have planned the whole thing out. Rest assured, anything can, and will happen, and Jason will be there to make it funny.

The Running
We have also resolved to run an ultra-marathon (75km) in March then the London Marathon 4 weeks later to raise money. That’s basically 3 whole marathons length in total.

We have already run several marathons including Budapest and Warsaw for our own pleasure but figured that to incite people to sponsor we had to up our game. Miles says, “We wanted to challenge ourselves but couldn’t decide who was going to be the back end of the pantomime horse so came up with the idea of a triple marathon, a comedy night and an auction as we thought that just a single marathon might not impress people enough to dig deep and support our charity.”

You can sponsor the boys who undertake their ultra-marathon on 24th March direct at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/MilesandPaul.
The Auction
To help our cause we have been gifted by the Wolterton Park Estate in North Norfolk a 3 night stay in a privately owned’ Georgian Stately Home.  This is a 5 star luxury Grade 2 listed Treasury Lodge and we are auctioning this exclusive experience to raise cash for SeeAbility. The winning bidders will benefit from all the perks and access to the Grade 1 Listed Estate, woodland and Lake. This is ranked one of the most luxurious stays in Norfolk.

Cash value of prize ranges from around £600 - £800 but bids can start at just £150.
