WCB Comedy Find a New Comedy Venue in Norwich: Details of First Night
Tanyalee Davis: Profile

On March 23rd at The Garage a comedy night is being put on which includes a very special headline act at a brand new venue for WCB in Norwich,

Tanyalee Davis is a 3 foot 6 inch world class stand-up comedian who regales her audiences while headlining comedy clubs and festivals throughout the USA, the UK, and all over the globe. In 2011, Tanyalee performed her ‘One Woman Show’ for 4 nights a week for 6 months in Las Vegas and more recently she stole the show on the BBC’s Live at The Apollo Christmas Special with her unique brand of risqué and self-deprecating humour. Clink on the link above for the Apollo set on YouTube – it really is a treat.

Surprising to learn then Tanyalee has now been resident in our very own Norwich for over a year which provokes the obvious question, what brings her here? “I love the City” she says. “There are people here who are like family to me. I also do a lot of work with a Norwich based anti-bullying campaign GR8 AS U R where I am a patron. We visit local schools to try and change attitudes to bullying. Bullies single out people who are different, like me and that’s why it has to be stopped. Even now as an adult I still get bullied by kids, yeah that’s right Kids!” Famously Tanyalee appeared on Channel 4’s The Last Leg with a hilarious but unprintable rebuttal to comic Jim Davidson’s careless remarks about little people who he referred to, unkindly, as ‘midgets’ in his stand up show.

Tanyalee’s experiences as a little person are advantageous to her outstanding comedy persona. They set her apart and offer something different to the "same generic material by some white guy, “she says. Living with a disability can be tough at times but she rolls with it, “That is my reality and that's funny!" Tanyalee is settling in well in our fine City. “I’ve been recognised once or twice here since all the telly stuff but in truth it looks like I have a way to go before I’m as famous as the Puppet guy!” Increasingly popular on panel shows and having appeared on the prime time John Bishop Show this surely will not be long!

Tanyalee will be appearing alongside one of the best MC’s in the business, the much lorded Italian motor mouth from North London Tony Maresse. Thomas Wolfe in his Broadway Baby review said of him in his 4 star review “I even struggle to think of better live comedians I have seen elsewhere.” This in itself makes the show a must see. The night is opened by up Ben Briggs who has been a finalist in the English Comedian of the Year and nominated for Best Act at the Midlands Comedy Awards no less than 3 times. Up and coming act Matt Adlington completes the line-up.
