Often, throughout life’s ups and downs, it’s easy to become blind to what God is doing around and in us.  We may rationalize His involvement in our lives or sadly, just plain overlook it.  It is only when the need it so great and beyond human capacity, that we once again direct our focus where it should be – on our Lord.  It is then that we see clearly His fingerprints plastered on, not just our need, but our lives.  Each response that we have received from you represents a fingerprint of our faithful God.  He has used you to overwhelm us with a sense of His presence, faithfulness, and goodness; to be reminded of His call, provision, love, support, and goodness has helped to reassure us as we step out in faith and finally get ready to step onto Togolese soil.  We want to thank all of you for your support, prayers, and encouragement.  God has provided, through all of you, for this next leg of our journey – the land of Togo!!!
We have our plane tickets!!! We are set to leave France on June 29th.  We will arrive in Lomé June 30th and head up to Mango July 1st.  Please pray as we again down size, sort, pack, plan, and prepare to leave one country for another.
Our container is someone in the Mid-Atlantic.  How exciting!!!  Please continue to pray for its safe arrival and the details of it making it all the way up to Mango.

The Hospital of Hope is Open!!!

The opening ceremony had over 5,000 people, the president of Togo, and the US ambassador.

To view a great video of the opening ceremonies of the hospital just click the link below.
Opening day of the hospital people starting lining up at 6am, 2 hours before the doors were scheduled to open.  That first day, approximately 200 patients were seen, 9 were admitted to the hospital, 2 were taken to the OR.  Others were given appointments for the upcoming week.  From all that we have heard it was an exciting day and everything went well. Please continue to pray for the staff as the excitement of opening day is replaced by the daily challenge of meeting the physical and spiritual needs in a very difficult environment.  And please continue to pray for the people of Mango.
Brenda’s surgery!!!  She will be having surgery on her right eye on March 31st.  We are thankful that they were able to schedule surgery so quickly.  Things are done quite differently here in France and we are praying that everything will go smoothly and that she will have a quick recovery.  The surgeon will be putting a drainage hole in the upper part of my right eye.  Typically, it will be a 8 week recovery, which will give me a 4 week window before moving.  Pray also that I will be able to keep up my French studies (while at home), finish the boys’ homeschool, and finish all the necessary paper work for leaving France and entering Togo.
God is so good!!!  It is hard to believe that we had our recognition service Friday, July 15, 2011.  That was the start of our journey.  It has been, nearly, a 4 year whirlwind of hard work, trials, victories, and seeing God at work.  Thank you for your prayers, partnership in ministry, encouragement and faithfulness.  We think of and prayer for you regularly.
