Sunday 6th October at 5pm
at Stamford All Saints, Red Lion Square
Cup-winners and other prizewinners from the Stamford Music Competition in June will be performing on Sunday 6th October at 5pm in Stamford. They will be helping to celebrate the life of Sir Malcolm Sargent, Stamford’s most famous musician, in a short tribute. There will be five very amazing young players - two violinists, two cellists and a singer, and they will be presenting English music for the occasion, including that most famous composer, Anon.
The children in the choir at All Saints' will complete the musical side of things, singing hymns and anthems by Parry and Elgar, as well as the Zither Carol (unusual, I know, to sing it in October, but the words and music are both by Sargent). We finish with a nod to the Last Night of the Proms with community singing of Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.
It is sure to be a great event, and I invite you most warmly to come and support them; and to stay for a cup of tea afterwards.
