2018 will be the third year that the competition has been running, and it is open to school-age children in Years 1 to 8. There are a range of classes for different skill levels, and every competitor will receive a certificate, spoken adjudication and helpful, encouraging written notes on their performance. The competition offers a friendly and welcoming environment for musicians to perform before their peers, their parents, teachers and the general public. There is no charge to listen as a member of the audience.
This year's adjudicator is John Wardle, an ABRSM examiner and Director of Music & Organist at Uppingham Parish Church.
Entries cost £4 per entry.
I have been inspired by the quality of music-making in previous years, and All Saints' is the perfect venue, because of the connections between the competition, the children's choir at the church, and our concerts. It was a pleasure to hear the three trophy winners from last year's competition acquit themselves so well at the 50th Anniversary celebration for Sir Malcolm Sargent, when they performed their solos in front of a packed church.
