Church of God in Virginia, Electronic Newsletter for Leaders   - March

Dear Ministry Partner/Leader,

In order to have leaders that others can and want to follow, we must be acknowledge and accept our role as leaders and commit ourselves to being the best leader we can be.  Why? Because it takes leaders to lead

Leadership development involves constant evaluation, commitment to excellence, and continual personal equipping.  The practical implications of that mean we are in a constant evolution in our roles as leaders.

I want to encourage you in your “evolution of leadership.” To evolve means to develop, to change, to grow, to progress, to advance, and move forward.  When we understand this we never feel like we have arrived.  We understand that to be a leader means that we are on a journey.

God desires that you enjoy the leadership journey.  A joyful leader is a joy to follow.

Thanks for leading!

Bishop Corder

P.S.  Did you notice the new E-Lead format?  Lets us know what you think about it.

EQUIPPING

Webcast from International Offices...

Dr. Culpepper's Webcast, March 6, 7 p.m. EST . . . will center on the theme, “The Art of Making Disciples” (John 8:31-36). Dr. Culpepper and David Griffis will host a roundtable discussion with the Pathway Press team—Terry Hart, general director; David Ray; Lance Colkmire; and Larry Horrell. The publication ministries—Sunday school curriculum, Bible study material, the Evangel, Leadership, and other support materials for making disciples—will be outlined. The presentation will not be a “sales pitch,” but will outline ways of training to make disciples.

The Impact of the Internet . . .
is affecting church life and opening other options for church training. The Leading Change video series was the first of its kind for Church of God in Virginia to place online.  These materials can be used for onsite staff and local church leadership training.  Please take advantage of the three 30-minute segments that spell out the challenges and the benefits of change at the local church.

And your input is important. I would appreciate your feedback about the Leading Change series by completing a very short 4-question survey to helps us provide relevant training in the future. (Survey is linked here.)

1980 11.3 percent
2000 12.4 percent
2010 13.0 percent

Projected U.S. Population of 75 and Older

2020 46.0 million

2040 94.8 million
2050 114.6 million

ENCOURAGING

Six Principles of Performance . . .

are outlined in Zig Ziglar’s book, Born to Win:

1. We get from ourselves and others what we expect.
2. The difference between good and excellent companies (churches) is training.
3. Companies (churches) that do not train their people and invest in their ability don’t last.
4. You find what you look for in life.
5. Never make a promise without a plan.
6. Happiness, joy, and gratitude are universal if we know what to look for.
