Welcome to Engagement Matters

Welcome to the latest edition of Engagement Matters.  The Engage for Success movement is only successful because of the energy and contributions of the people involved who help us shine a light on good practice and raise the profile of employee engagement.  

Please do have a look at our Get Involved information to see how you can help spread awareness and great practice of engagement. We have also recently updated our brochure which can be found by clicking here. We thank you for all the help and support!

In the next few months, keep a look out for news about our next big report.  This looks at what takes organisations from transactional to truly transformational engagement. Also, free your diary for our Engage for Success Open Evening on the 10th December, more on that later.

Discover Engage for Success at our Open Evening

Are you looking for a challenge?  To develop yourself or your team? Are you passionate about Employee Engagement and eager to learn more? Keen to shine a line on good practice and meet new contacts from a vast number of organisations?  

Then join us at the Engage for Success open evening on Wednesday 10th December to find out how! 

You can be involved in raising the profile of employee engagement and the positive effects it has on both your organisation and yourself from as little as 5 minutes. If you have more time and a particular interest how about joining a sub group, or for the lucky few we have secondment opportunities. You might have some spare time and would like to take on a stand alone project, develop your skills in a particular area, either way - why not drop in and find out more. 

2014 has seen some brilliant events take place and great Whitepapers and tools launched. Meet our sub groups to find out what they are working on and if you are interested ... the role you can play. Hear from organisations, secondees, sub groups, practitioners and gurus in a series of short talks to find out the benefits of being involved to you and your organisation. 

Drop in from 4pm to meet the team, talks will take place between 5.30-7.00pm.

Sub Group Update

Not for Profit Sub Group

The sub group is looking for not for profit organisations to share their views by completing this employee engagement survey – password e4sresearch.  Thanks in advance to all who can help. 

Wellbeing Sub Group 

The Wellbeing sub-group has moved on to phase three. We welcome Gabrielle Cohen, Executive Leader at the National Audit Office, as the new chair of this group.

Social Media & Digital Engagement Sub Group 

Our Social Media and Digital Engagement Sub Group continues to grow and expand with lots of big names in the digital field involved - but don’t fear, it’s never too late to join us!  In fact we've just opened a new area, exploring the potential for social media to construct organisational strategy.

Cross Cultures Sub Group 

The primary purpose of the Cross Cultures Sub-Group is to discover what enables, influences and drives engagement in different parts of the world to determine if there is a universal link.

Practitioner Events

Our practitioner events are in full swing with two great events having taken place in October.
Hannah Williams from IHG ran an energised Engage for Success practitioner session at the CIPD Devon and Cornwall HR Conference. The event resulted in a significant level of interest from those wishing to develop the movement further in the South West so watch this space!
David MacLeod opened the CIPD Scotland Engagement Conference in Edinburgh a fantastic buzz was felt by all with lots of interest from the attendees in Engage for Success.
There are a number of practitioner events taking place over the next few months.  These include:
  • Engagement and Wellbeing in Bristol on 17 November
  • The Engagement and Wellbeing at Work Conference in Belfast on 27 November
  • The Strategic HR Network Employee Engagement Conference in London on 9 December


Whitehall & Industry Group Conference

The highly interactive conference Innovations in Employee Engagement will explore practical steps enabling you to adopt more innovative ways to engage your employees. You will be able to share best practice with senior-level peers across the public, private and voluntary sectors and learn from high calibre case studies delivered by Birmingham City Council, GKN, IBM, NSPCC, Ordnance Survey, RBS, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Timpson, Unipart, and the Welsh Government.

Engage for Success (EFS) is a movement committed to the idea that there is a better way to work; a better way to enable personal growth, organisational growth and ultimately growth for our country by releasing more of the capability and potential of people at work.
Over the last few years the Task Force has spearheaded the formation of the Engage for Success Movement – bringing together the experience of leading practitioners, the ideas and research of leading academics, and the findings of think tanks, to share learning and practical guidance on “the what, the why and the how” of employee engagement.

A request from the Core Team. If you or your organisation are being interviewed about Employee Engagement then please remember to mention us. We need to spread the word about Engage for Success as far and as wide as we can.

Similarly if you are speaking on an engagement topic and have an opportunity to mention Engage for Success then let us know so we can share it with others. We also have a range of slides and material that you can add in to your slide deck if required. Just contact us and let us know what content you need.
