Monday 10th August 2015

Dear All,

Conflict, displacement and migration, present and past, are on our minds, both from the news and as we approach the anniversary of Partition and Independence. The works of writer and BBC Hindi Service broadcaster Gautam Sachdev were informed by his experiences of Partition and migration. His life and work will be remembered and celebrated at Keats House in Hampstead on Thursday 13th August at 6.30 pm with talks and music - sing along to to live presentations of some of his favourite film songs. Free, but booking is advised.

Kavita Puri's exploration of the experiences of new arrivals in the UK continues with the turbulent years from 1968 to 1976 in the second series of Three Pounds in His Pocket, available now on BBC iPlayer.

Read on for our highlights over the next fortnight.
