You are invited to Surviving the Encounter: Know Your Rights.

Surviving the Encounter: Know Your Rights is a workshop providing information for interacting with law enforcement and understanding your rights.
Unfortunately, the experience of racism is a daily occurrence for families of color, so it's a frequent discussion in many African American and Hispanic homes. We want to acknowledge how heart-breaking it must be to have to explain to your child that the color of their skin means they may not be treated fairly by our society, that they run even the risk of death if they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Encounters with the law can be stressful or scary. People have various experiences with law enforcement, some of which are not always fair or legal. This workshop provides practical information and real-life demonstrations that could help you avoid more trouble or potentially harmful situations. Knowledge is power. When you know your rights you can better protect yourself, your family, and your community.
We want our children to Survive the Encounter.
