Don't Get SAD This Winter!

Winter is upon us again, along with a busy holiday season. Many people find this time of year overwhelming and possibly lonely. Stress, family, and money issues can lead one to feel depressed. But sometimes it is more than that, and may actually be a vitamin deficiency causing these feelings.

While our area offers many healthy recreational options for the powdery stuff such as sledding, skiing, and skating, it lacks in some other important aspects that also affect our health. Shortened hours of daylight, being confined indoors, limited sources of fresh local food, and the possibility of slips and falls can all affect our health. This winter, it is important to take all the necessary precautions to avoid the winter blues.

15 Reasons to Visit a Chiropractor this Holiday Season

Tis the season for the holidays, food, family and cheer!
And also for stress, weight gain, and more that we fear.
For giving, for laughing, for spending time with friends.
For cooking, for cleaning, and wondering if it will ever end.
The Holidays, for many, can be a blessing in disguise.
With stress, illness and injuries always on the rise.-
Make this year different, and don’t fall into the trap.
Take care of yourself with chiropractic and maybe a nice long nap!

The holiday season can be a very stressful time for many. While there is so much to be grateful for, it is also easy to get wrapped up in everything and forget to take care of your own health. Putting others first on occasion can be beneficial, but when it is constant, the toll on your body can be huge. There are some easy ways to stay healthy during the holiday season. Avoiding Injuries

None of us are perfect. Potentially, due to years of improper posture, sports injuries, or even weak musculature, we all have imbalances that can affect proper form and even put us on the fast track to injury. In addition, jumping into a new exercise routine too quickly or doing exercises with improper form can exacerbate a pre-existing injury. It’s very important that you focus on proper form and utilize the proper muscles to complete each exercise. This means no cheating by arching your back on push-ups or swinging your legs on pull-ups. You’re only cheating yourself. Use muscle, not momentum. Every proper form repetition gets you closer to reaching your goals. If you have a pre-existing condition, take your time to work your way up, and stopping if pain occurs or increases. Some exercises may come naturally, while others feel completely foreign. Don’t give up and sit out the exercises that you can’t do. Make the investment in yourself.
