Don't Get SAD This Winter!
Dr. Brenda Trudell
While our area offers many healthy recreational options for the powdery stuff such as sledding, skiing, and skating, it lacks in some other important aspects that also affect our health. Shortened hours of daylight, being confined indoors, limited sources of fresh local food, and the possibility of slips and falls can all affect our health. This winter, it is important to take all the necessary precautions to avoid the winter blues.

To Run or Not to Run?
“More bad news for aerobic activity. Whether it’s running, cycling or a step class, the main reason it gets easier the more you do it, is not because of improved cardiovascular conditioning, but because of improved economy of motion. For the most part, it doesn’t get easier because of muscular endurance, but because your body is becoming more efficient at that particular movement. You require less strength and oxygen than you did before, because your body’s nervous system is adapting."
|Quit Smoking with Acupuncture!
In Oriental Medicine, smoking reflects an energetic imbalance in the body. Smokers use tobacco in an attempt to restore balance, but tobacco works only for the short term, so continuous use is needed for long-term balance. Thus, addiction begins. There are familiar and dangerous side effects that come with such long-term use of tobacco. However, acupuncture can successfully restore that imbalance safely and permanently. Even the World Health Organization officially recognizes acupuncture as a safe and effective way to quit smoking.
