Full-Body, Post-Holiday Cleanse & Detox

Dr. Brenda Trudell

For a number of years now, I have been detoxing and cleansing my body, and writing about my experiences. I began doing them in the spring of 2010, sort of as a “spring cleaning” of my entire body. The first time I did this, I lost some weight and it started me on a body transformation and a new way of eating and living. Sometimes I do them in the fall, as a way to jumpstart my immune system before the cold and flu season is upon us. I have also done them in January, right after the indulgence and splurging of the holiday season. I have personally found that this is my absolute favorite time of the year to do a cleanse, and I will explain why.

Exercise Your Heart to Achieve Health

Chris Kazda

Human beings walk to get around, not to lose weight. Up until the last 30 or 40 years, most people in this country, and around the world, were relatively thin and fit. Most of us didn’t eat processed foods loaded with fat, sugar, and salt, nor did we sit in front of screens all day and night. We walked and played and ate real food. But our lives have changed dramatically over the last 25 years. And in the process, the obesity rate has skyrocketed.

Shovel Snow for Exercise!
Christopher Kazda, CPT

The white stuff is starting to fly again. Most people look out their window and grimace, as this means getting bundled up to do the necessary evil of removing snow from driveways, steps, and sidewalks. But instead of firing up the snow blower and letting it do a majority of the work, consider the health benefits of manually using a shovel this winter season.

Through using correct form, preparation, and caution, shoveling snow can be a fun and challenging physical exercise. It creates the same benefits found in a regular exercise program, such as: strengthening bones and muscle, combating illness, relieving stress, improving mood, and assisting in good sleep patterns.
