|This Month's Featured Young Living Essential Oil: Peace and Calming for Infant Colic
Peace and Calming is a relaxing blend of tangerine, orange, ylang ylang, patchouli, and blue tansy essential oils. Peace & Calming is a gentle, fragrant blend. When diffused, it helps calm tensions and uplift the spirit, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of peace. When massaged on the bottoms of the feet, it can be a wonderful prelude to a peaceful night's rest. Peace & Calming may be especially calming and comforting to young children after an overactive and stressful day. Many parents also find that diffusing it or massaging a small amount (diluted with oil) onto infants' feet can help relieve the symptoms of colic.
To order Peace and Calming essential oil, contact Chris at email@example.com or order directly here.

Chiropractic for Infant Colic
Dr. Brenda Trudell
March is Colic Awareness Month, and if you are a parent who has had a colicky baby, you are plenty aware.
Colic is defined as comfortless crying in a young child or a baby and the child exhibits periodic fussiness that can last at least 3 hours a day, 3 days a week, for 3 or more weeks. Colic is characterized by problems of loud piercing cry, tensed abdominal muscles, flexed legs, and clenched fingers. It generally starts around three weeks of age and lasts until around three months but sometimes lasts for as long as six months. Approximately 10-20% of babies are affected by colic.
There is no known single cause for colic, but there are many theories that could contribute to an infants’ non-stop crying. Some believe that colic may be related to birth trauma, or injury to the spine due to position in utero. If there is uneven muscle tension, or vertebrae out of alignment in the neck or upper back (which can cause nerve irritation leading to pain in organs like the stomach or other body tissues), this can cause a baby to be get extremely upset. Birth trauma may also cause irritation in the cranium, or skull of the infant, and cause many problems such as constant crying.

|Household Exercise Equipment
With enough creativity, you can transform just about any room into a total body fitness center. You’d be surprised at how much resistance equipment you can produce from basic household items, replacing the need for specific equipment in traditional strength exercises. Your body doesn’t care if the resistance is coming from a $2,000 piece of exercise equipment or from a heavy rock you’ve found on the ground. The important part is that you are working and challenging your body.
Take bicep curls for example. Just because you don’t have dumbbells doesn’t mean you can’t do them. You can use gallon jugs of water (filled to your appropriate level), grocery bags filled with weighted objects, or even a duffel bag/backpack filled with books, magazines, newspapers, cans of food, rocks, sand, and/or recycled full water bottles. Add things to the backpack until you have the perfect weight to challenge your muscles and then hold the top strap. You can even make a proper handle by intertwining a stick or branch into the strap. Most backpacks can hold up to 60 pounds or more.
