Hi

Its been a very busy and eventful time over the last few weeks. We had the superb "wrong trousers week" for Bristol Childrens Hospital Grand Appeal and raised over £400 and looked great in process. Much nicer than wearing boring black leggings to class. So with the warmer weather finally here feel free to wear lightweight cotton trousers to workout in and if they are colourful, so much the better. Enjoy a snippet of the trousers worn in the week, below and more on our social media.

I have also been spending time working on fitness for the third age, helping women before, during and after menopause, through lifestyle, fitness and nutrition and am constantly putting tips on our fitness instagram site and chatting through class. Be sure to check them regularly at

Birthday Rules

If your birthday is in the week you attend class you can,

  • Remove one exercise and add your favourite
  • When the exercise arrives that you want to remove you have to say " I am not doing that!"
  • You have to give me your chosen exercise before we start class
  • If I am away your birthday week, you can take it to the following week
  • If you are away. - tough !

love you all

Defibrillator
We have decided at the gym club that our latest fundraising project should be to fund a defibrillator to non on the outside of the building. The cost will be approx £1,200 we aim to raise this by the kitchen being staffed on a Saturday by parents and the teas and coffees you have after class.
if you would like to donate please let me have your donation in an envelope and we will add it gratefully to the fund
if you need any convincing

How many people actually die from cardiac arrest in the UK each year?

The figures below really underline the horrific impact cardiac arrests have on victims, especially the families of young children who suffer an attack.

  • 12 people under the age of 35 die each week from sudden cardiac arrest
  • 270 children die from sudden cardiac arrest suffered on school premises

Of the the 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrest alluded to at the start of the post, 80 per cent happen at home and another 20 per cent occur in public places where, due to a lack of proximity to defibrillators, the victim is at most risk of death.

Whenever cardiac arrest strikes, there is absolutely no time to lose.

Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a victim’s survival rate by 7 to 10 per cent

They’re that important.

Without immediate treatment, 90-95 per cent of cardiac arrests prove fatal

All our gym coaches are trained to use them and even if not trained they are very simple to use

Music - its a real game changer

I play music in my car all the time at home and even have music playing on my laptop while I am writing this newsletter,
We love to use a variety of different styles in our classes. Pilates has lovely soft music to aid relaxation and focus. Body sculpt classes have more upbeat challenging music and Dancefit has to have great music of many different styles to keep us smiling throughout.

TIME OFF

I have planned some family time away this year and I am also at the British championships in Liverpool

The following days there will be no adult classes. Apologies for any disruption, but I know you all understand my commitment to GBR plus the need to have some time off.
