New Play Repulsing the Monkey
Performed at the Ken Club
Repulsing the Monkey, a new play set in a neighborhood bar, will be performed at
San Diego's Kensington Club Aug. 25 through Sept. 3, 2015
Repulsing the Monkey will be performed at the Kensington Club at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays from August 25-September 3, 2015. Repulsing the Monkey, by Michael Eichler, tells the story of Danny and Janey, who have just inherited their parent’s Pittsburgh bar. The play is set in the Southside Slopes, where out-of-town investors are buying up old buildings and changing the town from working class to an upscale haven for people with no need for a shot-and-a-beer bar. Do they struggle to keep a vital neighborhood watering hole alive or sell out their neighborhood?
Repulsing the Monkey is being produced by MustBePaid Theatre, a company dedicated to new plays that are as entertaining as they are thought-provoking. Company founders are playwright and former community organizer Michael Eichler, and playwright, actor and director Kevin Six. MustBePaid has produced several successful readings and Repulsing the Monkey is their first production.
Repulsing the Monkey is directed by Kevin Six and features Steve Smith, Laura Bohlin, Joshua Jones, Maelyn Gandola, Tyler C. Jiles and Jewell Karinen. Playing the role of Jablonski's is the venerable neighborhood watering hole the Kensington Club. Drinks will be available for purchase.
