The Artisan's Guild of America + the Steinway Mansion = OPPORTUNITY

The Artisan's Guild of America is hosting a special evening of presentations and entertainment.  Special Guest Speaker Bob Singleton of the Greater Astoria Historical Society (GAHS)/ Friends of Steinway Mansion (FoSM) will take us on a journey through the history of the Steinway Mansion and on Steinway & Sons.  Part of this journey will focus on the impact the company's existence has had on the growth of Queens as the artisanal hub of New York City.  A gallery of works by Astoria photographer Gary Vollo depicting Astoria and the Steinway Mansion today will be on view along side historical photographs of some of the same images from the Historical Society's collection.

Ricard De La Rosa, founder and owner of ProPiano, the nation's leading supplier of concert instruments and a supporter of concert artists, will provide observations and anecdotes from his 30 years of experience working with the world's greatest musicians:  including Andre Watts, Emanuel Ax, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock and James Levine.  Then delight in musical interludes by noted pianist Henry Wong Do...playing on a Steinway.

The evening will benefit The Artisan's Guild of America (AGA) apprenticeship and educational programs, as well as support the preservation and restoration of the Steinway Mansion.  The Friends of Steinway Mansion is currently raising funds to purchase and preserve the Steinway Mansion.
