Is your technology infrastructure inclusive?

CITES, the Center for Inclusive Technology & Education Systems, icon of a laptop with a gear and a security badge displaying on the screen

At the Center for Inclusive Technology & Education Systems at CAST, we’ve been working on updating and enhancing our guidance around technology infrastructure practices to support inclusive technology systems. Each identified best practice includes action steps and resources to help you get started or further your progress. To support implementation, we’re adding district examples for each practice, like this story from Tigard-Tualatin School District in Oregon describing how their team unifies inclusive technology decision-making. Review and share with a colleague to make the most out of the guidance, action steps, and resources.

Happy CTE Month®!

February is Career & Technical Education Month, and CAST is celebrating by sharing our LOVE of CTE learners, educators, and programs. We’re changing the story from “CTE is a program for other students” to “CTE is a way of learning for every student.” Participation in CTE leads to higher graduation rates, greater attendance and completion of postsecondary programs, increased entrepreneurship, and earning wages immediately after high school. Explore our growing work in this exciting area of young adult and adult learning, including projects focusing on outdoor recreation, additive manufacturing, girls in STEM careers, and increasing access to CTE programs so everyone has the opportunity to be successful.

Does your state or K-12 school district need support in creating more inclusive learning environments for students with disabilities? Are all of your students receiving accessible educational materials (AEM) in a timely manner? All you need to get started is a flight plan, a road map, and the courage to take off toward your destination.

The National AEM Center welcomes you aboard the AEM Pilot and invites you and your teams (or flight “crews”) to join in the journey. We’ve made it even easier with our most recent upgrades.
