Cornwall Peer Support
News 2017

Congratulations to Anna Rumble, Emma Allison, Leah Semmens, Terrie Greig, Elvira Taylor, Zoe Bullock, Katy Trevaskis and Lucy Stacey (not pictured),  who completed their Community Peer Support training last month. The Peer Supporters will be helping at Penzance, Helston, Hayle, Camborne and Callington.  Real Baby Milk wishes them the best of luck in their newly trained role and we look forward to hearing how things go.

We have a new Breast Compression video on our website and can be a great supporting tool for some mothers being supported. This technique can be very useful to make breastfeeding as effective as possible so that your baby gets as much milk as possible for every minute he or she is feeding, you get lots of stimulation to make more milk and the feeds are shorter and more efficient.

We have written some information for grandparents who want to support their grand child or child’s partner to breastfeed.

Their own children may or may not have been breastfed, perhaps there wasn’t much support around and feeding a baby with a bottle was what most families did then.  A great deal is known now about how important breastfeeding is and how it gives a child the best possible start in life and the number of women choosing to breastfeed is increasing.
Click on this link and you will find some questions which you may find helpful if you have any concerns or were wondering why breastfeeding is held up to be so good for mothers and babies.

Take a look at our newsletter archive, we have several AudioBoom posts covering Thrush, maximising breast milk and record keeping. There is a great collection of important up-to-date information across the archive. Reading through these as a refresher is a great way to update, and a good idea for newer Peer Supporters to take a look to.
