New Awards to be awarded at Congress

In addition to the existing awards, there is now an opportunity to win FOUR NEW awards!

PSANZ-PRS Mont Liggins Early Career Award

This prestigious award established in 2014 in partnership with the Perinatal Research Society (http://perinatalresearchsociety.org).

PRS holds an annual weekend meeting in North America in September at which lectures are presented by internationally renowned experts followed by discussion. There are a limited number of invited lectures by early research career investigators – these are prestigious invitations which facilitate networking and discussion with senior investigators.

The winner of the PSANZ-PRS Mont Liggins Early Career Award will be one of these invited early research career speakers, supported by grants from PRS and PSANZ.

PRS will cover registration, which includes accommodation and all meals, and an honorarium towards travel (currently set at US $600). PSANZ will provide AUS $2,000 towards travel costs.
For further details including eligibility and criteria please click here.

The Ritchie Centre Award

This award will be presented to the researcher whose fundamental discovery offers the potential to lead to changes in perinatal clinical practice, or for work that progresses such a discovery closer to clinical application.

The PSANZ Ritchie Centre Award may be awarded to a researcher at any stage of their career.

The recipient of the PSANZ Ritchie Centre Award will receive $1000 towards the cost of attending a subsequent PSANZ Annual Congress.

Nominations for consideration for the award will not be requested.

A short list of nominees will be generated by the Conference Local Organising Committee, based on review of submitted abstracts.

Presentations of short-listed abstracts (posters and/or oral presentations according to programming) will be judged by members of the Congress Awards Judging Panel.

The PSANZ Ritchie Centre Award will be presented along with other awards from the Society at the Closing Session of the Annual Congress.

The mechanism for administration of the award will be the same as that for the PSANZ New Investigator Awards.

The Two PSANZ President's New Investigator Awards

These awards are decided from the New Investigator nominees.
The PSANZ President’s New Investigator Awards will be awarded to:

  1. Best Oral presentation irrespective of discipline
  2. Best Poster presentation irrespective of discipline

Awards will be presented at each Annual Congress.
Winners of awards by discipline will receive $1,000 towards the cost of attending a subsequent PSANZ Congress.

Winners of the PSANZ President’s New Investigator Awards will receive $1,500 towards the cost of attending a subsequent PSANZ Congress, with the winner of the Oral presentation award also being invited to present as a symposium / plenary speaker (according to programme fit) at the next Congress.

The new PSANZ-SANDA

Transition of ANZSA as part of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand
Transition of ANZSA as part of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand
We are pleased to announce that the Australian and New Zealand Stillbirth Alliance (ANZSA) has recently moved to become part of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand (PSANZ) Perinatal Mortality Group (PMG).  With this restructuring the PSANZ PMG will now become the  PSANZ Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Alliance (SANDA) and ANZSA will continue within this entity to promote and enhance collaborative research to address stillbirth in Australia and New Zealand.
The PSANZ-PMG and ANZSA resolved that working more closely within PSANZ as the peak body for perinatology in ANZ will enhance effective conduct of the shared initiatives and strengthen the achievements of both organisations to continue to improve health outcomes for mothers and babies.
We look forward to your continued support of ANZSA and PSANZ SANDA activities overall.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Oats
Chair, PSANZ Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Alliance (SANDA)
