It's a Matter of PrinciPAL

FROM THE DESK OF RHONDA STEINBERG Dear Gator Families, I look forward to our upcoming Open House on Thursday, 2/11. The format for the evening has been changed to give families a first-hand look at "A Day in the Life of a Grand View Gator." This evening will give your child the opportunity to show and share with you the practices and learning happening every day in the classroom. You will get to see "just right" instruction that meets your child's needs in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Here is the schedule for the evening:
AM Kindergarten 5:45-6:15pm
1st-5th Grade 6:00-7:00pm
TK & PM Kindergarten 6:30-7:00pm
Library Open 5:30-7:00pm

The MBEF Annual Appeal ends Friday, 2/12. Thank you to the 84% of our GV families who have donated. If you are in the remaining 16% of our families who have not yet participated, WE NEED YOU! Thank you for donating at mbef.org/givetoday.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at Open House on 2/11!
Warm Regards, Rhonda Steinberg, PrinciPAL

70+ Reasons to Support MBEF

GV AT 84% PARTICIPATION - APPEAL ENDS 2/12 While 84% of GV families have donated to MBEF, our school is still $45,000 behind where we were in donations at this time last year. The generous support of our parents and community help us to fund programs and people that inspire learning, enrich teaching, and promote innovation and academic excellence in our public schools. Your generosity helps pay for the salaries of 71 much-needed teachers and specialists that the state budget cannot provide. These instructors make a real difference in your child's education. Please contribute an amount that is meaningful for your family. Friday is the last day to pledge at mbef.org/give today!

CLASSROOM BONUS Classes that reach 75-94% participation will receive $200 to spend on supplies, and those that reach 95% and above will receive $250 to spend. Congratulations to Mrs. Mangan, Mrs. Gladstone, Mrs. Farris, Ms. Simon, and Mrs. Fairbrother --your families have taken you all the way to 100% participation! Check out your classroom stats:

2016-17 Registration 2/8-2/16

KINDERGARTEN AND NEW STUDENTS Do you know a child who lives in Manhattan Beach who will be 5 years old on or before 9/1/16? If so, please let the family know it is important they go to their child's neighborhood elementary school this week to fill out a pre-enrollment information sheet. Children born between 9/2/11 and 12/2/11 are eligible for our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) --no exceptions. This is also the week to pre-enroll children entering grades 1-5 in 2016-17 who will be attending MBUSD schools for the first time. Forms and details at mbusd.org.

Spare Change Wanted

CHANGE 4 CHANGE FUNDRAISER Our students are collecting spare change they may find, or may have around the house, to bring to their classroom. The Grand View Student Council will donate the money to St. Jude's Children's Hospital on 3/1 to help sick and injured children. We have set a modest goal of $1 per student. Thank you.
