A Message from the Principal

SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK This week we will remind everyone to be SAFE at drop off and to be KIND and SAFE on the playgrounds. Look for student and parent volunteers with orange vests who will remind everyone to drive and walk carefully around school. Thanks for your help in making Grand View safe and happy!

KINDNESS MATTERS ASSEMBLY Warm thanks to those who came to support us at the assembly on Friday. Our hearts were warmed by the wonderful sense of encouragement for each of our students who spoke, sang, performed, or received an "I Set the Standard" t-shirt. It was clear that at Grand View KINDNESS matters and that we are helping each other to use our voice for KINDNESS, our ears for COMPASSION, our hands for CHARITY, our minds for TRUTH, and our hearts for LOVE! Enjoy our finale song at home. Kids love it! Sesame Street: Try a Little Kindness  (with Tory Kelly).

21-DAY KINDNESS CHALLENGE Keep the momentum going by performing simple but meaningful good deeds! KINDNESS is contagious, so pass it on! Gratefully, Mrs. Doyle.

Hug and Go Drop Off

BE SAFE. BE QUICK. Everyone wants to get their kids to school safely and quickly. This week, parents, students, and MBPD officers will be on hand to help with morning drop off, encouraging everyone to "hug and go." Remember there is no parking and leaving your car in the drop off lane at upper Grand View. If your child needs more time to get organized and say goodby please park in the parking lot or in legal parking spots in the surrounding neighborhood. Better yet, walk or ride to school. Remember, if students choose to skateboard to school they must pick up their board once they reach Grand View as skateboarding is never allowed on school grounds. Thanks for helping to make everyone's morning brighter!

UPON ARRIVAL There is no supervision before school so children must sit at the lunch benches until it's time to walk to class. We do encourage children to participate in Run Club every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:45-8:05am, and we  offer Yoga every Tuesday in March in Room 23 from 7:45-8:05 am.

This Tuesday - Your Vote Matters

CALLING ALL MB RESIDENTS - PARENTS AND STAFF! Your vote is needed in the Manhattan Beach City Council Elections this Tuesday, 3/7. Remember, our City Council members have the ability to close our school district's budget funding gap and maintain the high quality education our children enjoy in Manhattan Beach. Spend five minutes to cast your vote at your local polling place or mail in your absentee ballot (see the voter guide for postmark rules). Visit the City of MB Election page for more info. Thank you for voting!

Last Call to Buy Yearbooks

DON'T MISS OUT! Order at gvpta.com. The kids love collecting signatures at the end of school, and you'll enjoy reminiscing over the pictures in the years to come. Can't remember if you ordered yours already? The list of orders to date should be up and running by Sunday. Questions? Email Sandy Quigley.

Gator Run Art Contest

KIDS! WE WANT YOUR ARTWORK! Draw, paint, or color our Grand View Gator running like a champion across the finish line! This is the 22nd Annual Murad Family Foundation Grand View Gator 5K. The winning design will be featured on t-shirts, banners, flyers, postcards, and websites. Qualifying designs must use only four (or fewer) colors. Black does not have to count as one of the colors. Entries are due 3/17 in the PTA room. Questions? Email Betsey Keely. Last year's design, pictured at left, was by Ella Luthro.
