A Message from the Principal
NIMO ROCKS GRAND VIEW AND PLANTS SEEDS OF JOY AND HOPE!
Please ask your children about the wonderful assembly Nimo Patel gave to all the students last Wednesday! A video of the students singing along with Nimo is posted at gvpta.com
. He shared his courageous journey from Wharton Business School and Wall Street to his important work in the slum communities of India for the last seven years. We were awe-inspired and entertained by his stories and his captivating music. We were so lucky to have him visit Grand View while in California for a few short weeks. He was so impressed with our amazing students and the kindness they are sharing with one another and with the world. Visit Empty Hands Music
to download his album for free, watch his videos, and offer any donations to help with his ongoing work in the slums of India. Nimo did not charge us for his time and talent, but will accept donations to support his work. Any donations would be so meaningful to him. Thank you for checking it out! With a grateful heart, Mrs. Doyle.
Gator Grub CPK FUNdraiser 3/20 & 3/21
ALL DAY AT CPK MONDAY & TUESDAY
We got a super-sweet deal from our friends at CPK: 20% of ALL purchases ALL day (11am-10pm) over TWO days will be donated to our school! That includes dine-in, take-out, catering, and all (yes, ALL) beverage orders! Just show your server the CPK flyer
on your phone, no need to print out anything!
The classroom with the highest number of check-ins will get a pizza party in June! This is our only Gator Grub FUNdraiser this year. Enjoy!
Many thanks to Chairs Ava Cato-Werhane and Laura Kainsinger for a fun and enlightening event! Ava and Laura give a huge thank you to Ellen Fraser-Scott, Kathy Poje, Martin Fabian, MCHS chemistry teacher Ernesto Nodado, and all the volunteers including the Sandpipers Juniors and our own 5th grade student volunteers. We are grateful to the following groups and businesses for donating their time and expertise: UCLA Archeology, UCLA Pediatrics, Holden Dental Office, MBPD Forensics, GrowingGreat, Makerspace, Grades of Green, Mira Costa Chemistry Club, Rolling Robots, and UCode.
Grand View teachers and staff thank Mrs. Doyle and the PTA Hospitality Committee for bringing basketball cheer to the staff lounge!
A heartfelt thank you to a very special GV parent, Vicki Tyler, who has been quietly planting seeds of kindness, joy, and hope in our community. After witnessing a child having to wear shoes mended with tape until they could be replaced by Shoes That Fit
, Vicki started Kids Helping Kids at Grand View. Every time a student runs an equivalent of a marathon during Run Club, they earn the privilege of donating a new pair of Skechers shoes and Legends socks to a child at our sister school in Lawndale. We are on track to donate 150 pairs by the end of the school year, and the program has been adopted by all our our MBUSD elementary schools. Thank you, Vicki, for inspiring our community to be kind and generous without expecting anything in return.

Weather Balloon Launch 3/25
MBUSD STUDENTS SEND EXPERIMENTS TO THE EDGE OF SPACE
Please join all five elementary schools for an exciting high-altitude weather balloon launch this Saturday 8-9:30am at the Mira Costa High School Stadium. Ground crews from each school are preparing experiments and getting the payload ready to go. Where will it land? We don't know! (We will have estimates, and the payload will contain a GPS transmitter.) Once the payload is retrieved we will have video footage and experimental results to share. This launch is made possible by an MBEF Teacher Driving Innovation Grant
. Questions? Contact Gretchen Renshaw
