...BENEFITS THE ENTIRE STUDENT BODY!
MBEF is proud to support the return of physical education to our elementary schools. Every week credentialed and passionate PE teachers like Grand View's AMAZING Monica Wood and Doug Bransim provide 100 minutes of physical education -- instilling an early love of sportsmanship, teamwork, and exercise. This healthy addition to our curriculum is made possible by your support. Please give generously today. mbef.org/givetoday
Gator Gratitude - So Many to Thank!
PARENT PARTY & AUCTION
Our Spooktacular Party was a screaming success thanks to this scary-awesome team: Sara Baird, Jessica Black, Lisa Cabanes, Ava Cato-Werhane, Jennifer Cram, Erin Coppola, Liz Fatone, Stephanie Graham, Yaira Gurman, Haruko Froeb, Vanessa Mazry, Anna Moore, Nicole Shepley, Lisa Thompson, Vicky Vilchis, Amanda Zaumeyer, Andrea and Mike Zislis. We deeply appreciate our Silent and Live Auction Donors,
and give sincere thanks for all who attended and generously supported GV's biggest fundraiser.
MBUSD FACILITIES TEAM
We thank this team for their dedicated help over the last few months. They prepared the campus for Pride Day, installed a drip irrigation system in the Children's Garden, put up a new ball wall on the lower playground, set up coolers in the Ladera classrooms, and installed A/C in our hottest classrooms.
MB FIRE DEPARTMENT
Thank you to the MBFD and Engineer Brian Yount for teaching MBUSD 2nd graders about fire safety and the importance of having an evacuation plan. Congratulations to Brighton Lipson whose 3-D evacuation plan earned him a ride to school in a fire engine, recognition at a city council meeting, and his photo on display at the fire department.
For his Boy Scout Eagle Project, former student Spencer Hurst and Troop 860 planted drought-tolerant plants on the hillside above the Kindergarten classrooms to hold the soil in place and to attract butterflies. The project included the transformation of the compost area from an eyesore to a point of campus pride. The before and after pictures are amazing! (Please do not walk through this area, and caution children to leave the pebbles alone.)
All Visitors Check In at Front Office
NEW SYSTEM INCREASES CAMPUS SECURITY
Thank you to all who have registered your driver's license with ScholarChip at the front office. During school hours, if you see anyone without an ID sticker please remind him or her to report to the front office to check in. Our new system increases campus security in several ways:
- Registered visitors who check in at the front office are issued an ID sticker -- worn prominently -- to identify the visitor as being authorized to be on campus.
- Upon checking in, the visitor's name is cross referenced with ScholarChip's sex offender database. This check is not recorded beyond ScholarChip's internal database, and the check adheres to ScholarChip's strict security policies.
- In the event of a campus emergency, ScholarChip enhances rescue efforts by generating a report of visitors' locations.

GV PILOTS FOOD DONATION PROGRAM
Starting on Monday, 10/31, excess cafeteria food will be donated to those in need through a non-profit based in Long Beach. Food Finders
will come on campus every day after lunch to collect unopened cafeteria beverages and bagged snacks, as well as whole pieces of cafeteria fruit taken but not eaten. Grand View is leading the way with this pilot program and, if all goes well, the program may be expanded to other MBUSD schools. Thank you to Barry and Kathy Fisher from GROW the Produce Shop for donating a crate. Questions? Email Chrissie Clay
