Science Expo 3/18

FREE EVENT FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY 3-7PM The Icky Yucky Gross Bug Guy will be back, so if you missed eating a bug last time, here is your chance! We'll have a planetarium, archeologists, Valentine's Traveling Nature Class, and some surprise exhibits! Come hungry, we'll have food trucks!

WE NEED PARENT HELP This free event is one of the kids' favorites of the year, and your help is needed to make it happen. Please sign up to lend a hand! Contact Ellen Scott for more info.

Hear Math Curriculum Changes 3/19

PTA MEETING 3/19 8:30AM - CAFETERIA Brett Geithman, MBUSD Executive Director of Ed. Services will share upcoming changes to the math curriculum and will report on general district updates. Coffee and bagels provided.

Run Club - Calling All Dads 3/25

DADS INVITED AS VIP RUN CLUB GUESTS 3/25 Dads are invited to run, walk, scan runner's cards, or cheer from the side lines on 3/25. One lucky Dad will win a fantastic spot prize: 4 box seats to a Lakers vs. Clippers game, kindly donated by the Lagao family!

RUN ACROSS AMERICA We are passing through Oklahoma City, OK, and our runners have collectively completed 4,739 miles. Congratulations to the following classes with the highest participation in 1st-5th grade: Mushet, Pliaconis, Farris and Dever (tied), Slater, Witzansky. For more info visit

Crime Update Meeting 3/24 - PAC

GARDEN VANDALIZED In a related matter, several of the decorative flamingos that were purchased to cheer up the Children's Garden after the recent vegetable theft have been stolen. When playing at GV after school or on weekends, please report suspicious behavior to MBPD.

Literacy Outreach Begins 3/30

BOOK DRIVE & REFURBISHMENT TO BENEFIT COMPTON AVENUE SCHOOL LIBRARY Spring cleaning? Please donate gently used K-8 children's books to our 4th Annual Access Books Project. Collection bins will be in the Library hall from 3/30-4/17. Sturdy boxes to transport books are also needed.

WANT TO DO MORE? Join us on 4/18 when we work together to refurbish the library at Compton Avenue Elementary. All are welcome, many helping hands are needed. Contact Kelli Spriggs for details.

GOT EVEN MORE BOOKS? Please save adult books and less than gently used children's books for May when we start collecting for the Spring Fair (6/6/15) Used Book Booth.

BOOK CHARACTER SPIRIT DAY 3/27 The Cat in the Hat? Harry Potter? The Wimpy Kid? Pippi Longstocking? Show your school spirit and help celebrate National Reading Month by dressing up as your favorite book character on 3/27.

Summer Camp Planning

PLANET BRAVO, CAMP GALILEO, CAMP VIP Enrollment is open at for Planet Bravo (at MBMS) and Camp Galileo (at Robinson). Enrollment for Camp VIP (at Pacific) opens 3/30. Camp VIP is for students entering grades K-8 and will offer some "oldies but goodies" plus new options in art, science, cooking, dance, and performing arts. Questions?
