A Message from the Principal

THIS FRIDAY! SPREAD THE JOY TO CHILDREN WHO NEVER GIVE UP!  Students and their parents are invited to join our Community Service team in the Cafeteria this Friday, 3/31, from 2:15-3:45pm to fold origami and write positive, encouraging messages to patients who never ever give up even though they are experiencing circumstances we can't imagine. We were inspired by this Kid President video to create Joy Jars for Miller Children's & Women's Hospital in Long Beach. Because these patients often don't have contact with children, they will enjoy knowing our students care. This is our first activity to help our students think about the value of courage and what it takes to do what is right, to keep fighting, and to keep dreaming of what is possible when we all work together. Thank you for your support! Gratefully, Mrs. Doyle.

Safety

FOR DRIVERS Our wonderful safety volunteers will be out this week to remind parents to drop off and pick up safely. Thank you in advance for spreading a kind and generous attitude as you drive around our congested area. What a great example you will set for your children!

FOR WALKERS Please make sure children are walking to and from school in groups, via a route visible to the public, and preferably with an adult supervising. There was an incident reported to MBPD that occurred in the abandoned playground adjacent to the Sand Dune Park hillside: two children were startled by a homeless person in a tree who yelled at them when he jumped down. Be aware this area is not under surveillance, and the overgrown areas are places which could be unsafe for children. Walking through this area is highly discouraged, unless there is a parent or other trusted adult accompanying.
