Our youngsters are watching. Please remember to follow the rules and to exhibit kindness and patience during morning drop off and afternoon pick up.
 

Noon Supervisors Needed

THROUGHOUT MBUSD Noon supervisors ensure students are safe, respectful, and responsible during lunch and on the playground. They guide play, resolve disputes, and keep our students safe. If you or someone you know would like to join our team, inquire at your school office or call Maria in the MBUSD Human Resources Deptartment at 310-318-7345 x5951 for more info. The shift is two hours per day around lunchtime and the hourly wage is $12.84.
 

Box Tops for Education Ends 2/24

COLLECTION DEADLINE 2/24 Clip box tops from participating products and turn them in to the submission box in the PTA room or your child's classroom by 2/24. This collection of box tops is the final one for the 2016-17 school year. Help our school earn some easy money!
 

City Council Candidate Forum 2/24

OUR CITY, OUR SCHOOLS All eight candidates will answer questions specifically related to the relationship between the City of Manhattan Beach and MBUSD including City rental of school facilities, school safety, and transportation. The event will be moderated by the Beach Reporter's Paul Silva and is hosted by the Manhattan Beach Council of PTAs. The event is free and the public is welcome. Meet and greet at 8:30am in the MCHS teacher's lounge, followed by the forum in the Small Theater at 9:00am Click here to submit questions for consideration. Click here for the City elections page. Makerspace Materials Needed by 3/3

GOT CARDBOARD? We need cardboard plus empty tubes from paper towels and toilet paper for 2nd-5th graders to build animals. Drop off materials by 3/3 in the collection box in the PTA room or Room D3. Questions? Email Julie Fields.
 

GV Dish at Manhattan House Ends 2/28

SPECIAL FEBRUARY PROMOTION Our 5th grade junior chefs have created a garden-inspired dish featured this month at Manhattan House. Working closely with Chef D and GrowingGreat, our Gator Gourmands crafted an irresistible ravioli dish featuring lemons and nasturtium pods from our school garden. Enjoy! Open House & PTA Meeting 3/2

KINDERGARTEN ALL EARLY & GRADES 1-5 ON MINIMUM DAY TK and AM & PM Kindergarten attend school 8-11:20am. Grades 1-5 attend school 8:15am-12:40pm. In the evening, visit your child's classroom to experience a "day in the life of a Grand View Gator," followed by an informative PTA meeting. Open House Schedule:
  • 5:15-6:15pm - 1st and 2nd grade
  • 5:30-6:30pm - 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade
  • 5:30-6pm - AM Kindergarten
  • 6:15-6:45pm - TK and PM Kindergarten
  • 5-6:45pm - Library open
  • 6:45pm - PTA meeting in the Cafeteria

CHARACTER EDUCATION MATERIALS The library has materials for check out that promote an understanding of diversity, acceptance, kindness, and empathy. They are organized into two resource lists titled Diversity & Acceptance and Kindness & Empathy. Visit grandviewlibrary.info, click the Catalog tab, select Grand View, click the Catalog tab, and select Resource Lists from the menu on the left. Many thanks to Cindy Perelson and Lisa Schlager for purchasing new books to add to our character education materials.

CELEBRATING LIBRARY LOVERS MONTH Thanks to our friends at Pages bookstore, author/illustrator Louis Thomas will speak to our students on 2/23. His picture book "Hug It Out" is a fresh, funny take on sibling rivalry and is available for purchase at Pages bookstore, or online for school delivery. Click for ordering details. Due to scheduling conflicts, not all classes will attend the presentation.
