A Message from the Principal
THE RIPPLE EFFECT OF PRACTICING KINDNESS Something mind-boggling to discover when you dig into the science behind kindness is that random good-deed-doing not only improves the overall well-being of one individual, but the mood of an entire community. The
chemical effects of kindness are experienced in the brain of everyone who witnessed the act, improving their mood and making them significantly more likely to "pay it forward." So one good deed can create a virtual
circle of kindness that improves the day for dozens of people! We feel happy when someone does something kind for us and immediately want to return this kindness. Both of us improve our moods, in addition to our anxiety levels and overall physical health, but we also create a ripple effect whereby many more people get to experience the biological benefits of a "kindness high."
THIS WEEK I have challenged students to practice acts of kindness by leaving a "HeartPrint" behind. Here is a short video on the awesome power of the
kindness boomerang.
Gratefully, Mrs. Doyle
It's Not Too Late to Make a Difference
IT ALL ADDS UP

CLASSROOM BONUS Quite a few classrooms are close to earning $250 for their teacher. Please help her get there! Teachers will receive $250 to spend in the classroom THIS YEAR if their classroom achieves 95% participation, or $200 with 75% participation.

Drop Off & Pick Up Reminders
PULL FORWARD & REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLE When dropping off or picking up your child, please pull as far forward as you can. Leaving a gap in the line, or parking in the line and leaving your vehicle, causes delays in moving the line along. Let's all do our part to make drop off and pick up easier for everyone.

School Absence = Funding Loss
PLEASE HELP Did you know that Grand View loses $45 in state funding every time your child is absent from school? Even though we would love for students to have an attendance record of 100%, we realize unexpected family commitments do occur. If you have a planned absence, please consider making a $45 donation for every day your child is absent. Make your check out to MBUSD and drop it off at the front office, or include it in your Tuesday Envelope. Questions? Call 310-546-8022 or email
Kathy Poje or
Caryn Dates.
