Monday - Sloopy's Fundraiser

ESCAPE THE KITCHEN & SUPPORT GVPTA!  Sloopy's will donate 20% of the sales from breakfast, lunch, and dinner to GVPTA on 10/7!  Enjoy smoothies, sandwiches, salads and more - just tell 'em you're from Grand View!  Delivery orders are excluded.

Tuesday - Turn in TFL Contest Form

WHO LEFT THE TRASH OUT?  The student with the highest number of trash-free lunches in September will win dinner for four at Rock & Brews El Segundo.*  Bring the contest form to the front office by 10/8.

MORE PRIZES TO COME  From now to the end of the school year students earn raffle tickets for chances to win prizes such as Rip Curl wetsuits, Skechers shoes, Becker t-shirts, and Fresh Brothers pizza.  All they have to do is bring trash-free lunches or properly sort their lunchtime waste.  For more info call Melissa Bailey at 310-465-5647 or Janiece Cotrell at 310-702-0264.

Safety Reminder

STEER CLEAR OF GATOR PRINTS  When driving or parking at school, please stay away from the Gator footprints.  They are a designated walkway.  Thanks for keeping our Gators safe!

PTA Membership Drive

A HEARTY THANK YOU TO OUR GREATER GATOR FAMILIES!  147 families (60% more than last year!) will receive a limited edition Greater Gator coffee traveler and a family pass to the Pancake Breakfast on 11/6.  If you're name is not on the Greater Gator list, and you think it should be, please contact Joe Lamkin ASAP.

MBEF Annual Appeal

WHEN LOWER NUMBERS MATTER  Thanks to parent donations to MBEF, K-3 classrooms average just 24 kids in MBUSD.  Compare that to 45 per class in most California schools!  Please ensure small classes next year by giving to the Annual Appeal.  Take advantage of monthly installments at mbef.org/givetoday.  Thank you!

THREE OPEN SCHOOL BOARD SEATS  With low voter turn outs expected for this local election, every vote will greatly impact your child's education.  Register online by 10/21.  Moved in the last year?  Re-register.  Never seem to make it to the polls?  Sign up to vote by mail.

Box Tops are Back

CLOSE TO $1,000 RAISED LAST YEAR  Box Tops from everyday products mean easy money for our school and we're hoping to pass up last year's record amount with your help.  The classroom that collects the most Box Tops by 10/25 will win an ice cream party, and the clippings already sent in will count!  Let's get clipping

Celebrate Walk to School Month

10/09  The Bus turns 3 - walk to school and meet the Bus for a photo op on the upper playground from 8-8:15am.  Join us for cake after school at the lunch benches.
Week of 10/14  Nominate your walking route for a chance to win a Pinkberry card.

Time to Party!

SCRIP MSO INCENTIVE - EVERY ORDER COUNTS  Your child's classroom will celebrate with a sundae party if at least 50% of your families sign up for a scrip monthly standing order.  The classroom with the highest overall participation will win a movie party.  If you shop or dine locally, we have the card for you!  Sign up online or stop by the scrip table on 10/8 from 7:45-8:45am.  Incentive ends 10/31.

Think RAC for Halloween

RENT A COSTUME  The RAC was featured on the recent US Dept. of Education tour of our school and is open every Wednesday from 1:15-2:30pm.  A complete costume rents for only $5 plus a $10 deposit, and we have a large supply of adult options!  More info at gvpta.com.

In the Library

GREAT GATORS ARE GREAT READERS  3,996 books were checked out during August and September - nearly 600 more than for the same time period last year!  The top readers will receive a Fresh Brothers gift certificate:  Vinny Costa, Jack David Keating, and Genavieve Sileo.  Congrats! 

MB PUBLIC LIBRARY  Turn in the bookmark contest entry by 10/19.  Winning designs will be distributed throughout LA County.  Good luck!
