Gator Gratitude
THANKS FOR ALL THE GATOR RUN FUN! Many thanks to: the extraordinary Co-Chairs Kim Blum, Mark Sprague, and Jill Lamkin; to the wonderful volunteers; and to our generous sponsors!
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK Thank you for a week of flowers, treats, and surprises! The teachers and staff appreciate YOU! A big thank you to GVPTA for providing four days of catered lunches, and to Fresh Brothers (the Goldberg family) for generously providing the delicious pizza and salad lunch. An extra helping of gratitude to Julie Tendoesschate and Sandie Weitz for graciously presenting the lunches all week with fresh linens, bright flowers, and sunny smiles!
SPECIAL THANKS TO LA COUNTY SUPERVISOR DON KNABE LA County Supervisor Don Knabe's Arts Education Partnership Program (AEPP) awarded Grand View a generous $9,067 grant to support our 2014-15 performing arts programs: Pantomime--Kindergarten; Three Piggy Opera--1st Grade; Irish Dance--2nd Grade; Square Dance--3rd Grade; Early California Dance--4th Grade; and Urban Contemporary Dance (Hip Hop)--5th Grade. Each program is a residency: an instructor gives weekly lessons over 10 to 12 weeks that culminate in a final performance. Thanks to this grant, a portion of every grade's program is underwritten by Supervisor Knabe's AEPP funds. Performing arts not only enrich students' cultural understanding, but they promote self-expression and self-confidence, and provide an opportunity to practice, master and perform new skills in front of an audience. A huge thank you to Supervisor Knabe for this grant, and thank you to Lisa Barrios for writing the grant application on behalf of Grand View. Bravo for performing arts!
