Principal's Message

DEAR GATOR FAMILIES Thank you for attending our first all school assembly last week. Our school community shined with pride as we celebrated our resilient American spirit, some 15 years after the unimaginable occurred in our country's history. We thank our speakers for inspiring us with heartfelt words: Tate de Roos expressed his gratitude for all that he has, that he learned by visiting places where students have few or no school materials. Quinne Daniels spoke about the opportunities and choices she has in this country that she might not have in other parts of the world. Teacher Megan Monroe, a Coast Guard veteran, spoke of the joy it gave her serve our country. We thank our musical guests for performing songs for us to sing: Peff Eick on guitar and Rick Lyman on banjo, with vocalists Aimee Fahlbusch, Paige Blum, Bailey Butler, and Tamara Walker.

PRICELESS MOMENTS Photographer Steve Gafney captured priceless moments of our assembly. Click to view and enter the password 455.

MAKE THE WORLD MORE AWESOME Last week, I finished visiting every classroom to share one of my favorite videos, A Pep Talk for Teachers and Students, featuring Kid President. He reminds us to thank our teachers because "they see the person we can all become someday," and challenges us to "make the world more awesome." Thank your teachers for their hard work and enthusiasm, especially after our successful Back to School Night! Watch the video with your family then ask your child what he or she will do this year to make the world more awesome. Thank you for your heartfelt support! Warmly, Nancy

Gator Gratitude

VOLUNTEER EXTRAORDINAIRE This month we would like to spotlight an amazing volunteer with resounding Gator Gratitude! Scott Holcomb --humble, kind, and always there to help-- is a one-in-a-million volunteer extraordinaire! He goes above and beyond to help where help is needed. Thank you, Scott, for installing backpack hooks, hanging letters on the GV signboard, digging and planting on Pride Day, helping in the library, supplying A/V tech assistance for our American Pride Assembly and for Back to School Night, taking on the duties of GVPTA Webmaster, and so much more. Scott is a parent who truly exemplifies the Gator spirit that makes our Grand View community so great.

THANK YOU CHEVRON After reading in The Beach Reporter about the Gaga pit fire our generous neighbors at Chevron have pledged a donation to help with restoration efforts.
