Annual Appeal

WE ARE SO PROUD TO HAVE SCIENCE SPECIALIST GRETCHEN RENSHAW AT GRAND VIEW! Mrs. Renshaw was awarded a Teachers Driving Innovation grant from MBEF to introduce coding to Grand View students through the use of robots, iPads, and other technology.

NEW GRANT FOR 2015-16 MBEF launched the Teachers Driving Innovation grant this year to provide funds for teacher-driven projects that promote innovation and/or collaboration in learning that aligns with District goals. This program provides educators with the opportunity to exercise their passion for teaching and to develop ideas for instruction beyond textbook material.

YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN This exciting new grant and the many other grants and programs provided by MBEF to all MBUSD students would not be possible without the generous support of our parents and community partners. Our annual appeal is drawing to a close. If you have not yet donated, please give now. mbef.org/givetoday.

Builders! We Need You!

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO ASSEMBLE GAGA PITS! Thanks to the success of our November Jog-a-thon we have four Gaga Pit Kits to put together. They are 20-foot octagons, and you are the ideal volunteer if you have a building background or are great with assembling IKEA furniture. Tentative project dates: 2/10-2/13. Email vickityler@me.com.

Run Club M-W-F

EVERYONE WELCOME! Hats off to all the kids who continue to run during the colder weather! Special mention goes to Ms. Glassman's 2nd grade class with 66% participation! "Exercise is the single most powerful tool you have to optimize brain function, and even 10 minutes of activity changes your brain," says Harvard Medical School psychiatrist John Ratey. gvpta.com/runclub

POPSICLE WINDOW OPEN 1/27 Redeem free Popsicles earned during the Jog-a-thon on Wednesday after school at the Cafeteria.

Trash-Free Contest

TRASH-FREE LUNCH WINNERS Packing a trash-free lunch is good for the earth and good for GV --  and can get you prizes, too! Congratulations to our first semester TFL winners who won either a Rip Curl wetsuit (generously donated by Robyn and Pat Murphy), or a gift card for In-n-Out, or Yogurtland, or iTunes: Bella Adishian, Katie Caras, McLean Grimes, Ella Kim, Quinn Pierce, Charlee Rainey, Renya Singh, and Lyle Weitz. A second drawing will occur at the end of the school year so keep packing a trash-free lunch!
