GOAL-SETTING CONFERENCES THIS WEEK Our teachers are excited about sitting down with parents earlier in the school year for goal-setting conferences. In the past, conferences have focused on discussing report cards. This year, the focus is to identify goals and articulate a vision to guide student growth. Parents and teachers will share perspectives and gain insight on the child's strengths, needs, learning styles, interests, and more. We hope these conferences foster mutual respect and build a trusting partnership.
MindUP PARENT INFO NIGHT 11/3 AT MBMS Last spring, MBUSD teachers were trained in
MindUP "a neuroscience-based program in which students learn to self-regulate behavior and mindfully engage in focused concentration required for academic success."
MindUP lessons align with all state standards including Common Core and support improved academic performance while enhancing perspective taking, empathy, and kindness, as well as fostering complex problem solving skills. To learn more about it, please join us at the
MindUP Parent Night with parents from all five elementary schools on Tuesday, 11/3, from 6:30-8pm in the MBMS multipurpose room.
REPORT CARDS The MBUSD School Board approved a new elementary report card system last spring. We have made the decision to postpone the roll out of the new reporting tool until the 2016-17 school year. Report cards for this year will be the same as in the past with two exceptions: fourth and fifth grades will be moving to standards based grades (4, 3, 2, 1 scale) and reports will be distributed at the end of two semesters.
