Earth Week Activities
CELEBRATING EARTH DAY GATOR STYLE! As one of the first
Green Ribbon Award schools in California we know that "it's easy being green" and lots of fun, too! This is what we have planned...
CLASSROOM GREEN CHALLENGE Each teacher will guide their students through earth friendly activities this week. The class that earns the most points in each grade will win a frozen treat party and the overall winning class will earn a pizza and frozen treat party. Students with reusable water bottles earn class points on Monday.
WATER CONSERVATION CHALLENGE California is in the middle of a severe drought. Take the
Water Challenge at home to find out ways to help save water. Students who turn in a completed
Water Challenge to their teacher by 4/24 will earn points for the Classroom Green Challenge. Presented by Annie Iantuono, Grades of Green Student Rep.
CAMPUS CLEAN-UP On Tuesday our students will collect and classify trash found around campus and the class that collects the most will earn ice cream passes. Join us at the lunch benches after school on Friday to see "The Trash Monster" created from collected litter and to learn what you and your family can do about ocean pollution.
WEDNESDAY IS EARTH DAY! Celebrate by wearing green or blue and walk or bike to school.
GV CUSTODIAN HONORED BY VOICE ON SATURDAY For demonstrating environmental care and awareness, our own Victor Simmering has been selected by
VOICE to receive the Environmental Hero Award at the
Earth Day Celebration & Concert in Polliwog Park. Victor will be honored at 1pm.
