Message from the Headmaster
Great news - We’re filling up!
Thank you to the parents who have heeded the call to re-enroll. Currently, we are right on target with our re-enrollment process for the 2013-2014 school year and we’re glad to see such a great response. Knowing re-enrollment results truly helps us plan for our next school year.
We’ve had very encouraging results with our new student enrollments and applications. Right now, we have 35 newly enrolled students. An additional 24 have submitted applications and their files are now being reviewed by the admission committee. Also, 150 families representing 207 students have requested applications and information, thus beginning the process of tours, visits, and testing.
It is exciting to see our classes filling up. We are projecting that our Middle School will be full next year. Based on current activity, we expect two sections of each grade and the potential for a third 5th grade class.
This is all great news. We’re thankful for the confidence expressed by our current families and proud of the reputation North Cross has in our region. As Dr. Proctor often says, “This is a great time to be at North Cross Schoolâ€.
If you see a new face at one of the many school events we’re holding - introduce yourself. We’ve been inviting our newly admitted and inquiring families to join us and your hospitality will be welcomed. Every North Cross family was once in their shoes and now can serve as an ambassador of the school to welcome them.

Career Ends, Retirement Begins
Bill Hodges came to North Cross School in August of 2011 as the Raiders’ head basketball coach. In 2012 he also joined the North Cross faculty as a history teacher. He came to work in the professions he loves—teaching and coaching. Hodges inherited a team whose record the previous season was two wins and 15 losses. Fast forward to May, 2013, and Hodges, with a fan club of students, players, and parents, has twice reached the final four of the state tournament, finishing runner-up in the 2013 VIS Division III basketball championship. Unfortunately for all of us, Coach Hodges has decided give up his teaching and coaching positions. Click here to read the whole story.

On Monday, May 6, the fine arts department at North Cross School hosted an art show and reception for our 5th - 12th grade art students at NCS. Regardless of the awful weather and extreme downpour we had a great turn out. The student artwork will be on display in Logan Gallery, in the lobby of Old Slack Hall, through the end of the school year. Next time you're on campus be sure to come by and check it out.

Leadership Reception May 16
The North Cross Annual Fund ends June 30th, and we are still $50,000 short of our Goal. We’ve received some really nice gifts recently, but still have a ways to go. The most important thing is participation, we need to show our corporate sponsors and foundations the whole community is behind this.
If you have made a gift of $1,000 or more, the Leadership Reception is Thursday May 16th from 6 :30- 8:30 at the Proctor’s house. It’s not too late to make a pledge and join us! You can make a pledge or a gift to the Annual Fund today. Click here to give online.

Still Time to Buy from Summer Reading Book Fair
We've had a great Summer Reading Book Fair in Hancock Library this week! Many thanks to everyone who visited and enjoyed browsing the books on our 2013 Summer Reading list. Don't forget, you still have an opportunity to visit Barnes and Noble to support our book fair until Saturday, May 18. If you need gifts for graduation, birthdays, Mother's Day, or Father's Day, this is a great time to pick them up and support our library at the same time. We also have a Hancock Library "wish list" table at the Tanglewood Barnes and Noble if your family would like to select a book for donation to the library. Our Barnes and Noble Book Fair ID# is: 11101235. You may also print out a voucher for the book fair here. Thanks so much for your support of book fair!
