Below is the most recent information regarding Homecoming activities scheduled for the week of September 29. The week starts with Spirit Days and ends with a homecoming dance for upper school students on Saturday, October 4.
Spirit Week
The upper and middle schools will kick off Homecoming week with Spirit Days. Please note that the entire school will wear Red and White on Friday, October 3.
Middle School Spirit Week
- Monday, September 29—Superhero Day
- Tuesday, September 30—Nerd Day
- Wednesday, October 1—Decades Day
- Thursday, October 2—Twin Day
- Friday, October 3—Red and White Day (School wide)
Please note that the Middle School Dance, originally scheduled for Friday, October 3, has been moved to Thursday, October 30. Details are still being worked out, but the event will have a Halloween theme. Reed McGinn will send out details as plans firm up.
Upper School Spirit Week
- Monday, September 29—Hawaiian Day
- Tuesday, September 30—Neon Day
- Wednesday, October 1—Western Day
- Thursday, October 2—Powder Puff/Sports Jersey Day
- Friday, October 3—Red and White Day (School wide)
Homecoming Schedule of Events
The Boosters have arranged for a special giveaway for the first 300 spectators at the athletic contests scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Please come out and support the Raiders!
Thursday, October 2:
- 2 p.m.—Powderpuff Football Game on Thomas Field. Senior and Junior Girls vs. Sophomore and Freshman Girls. The cheerleaders will be boys from the respective classes. Powderpuff players have been practicing for the game on Hooper Field with help from the Varsity Football team.
Friday, October 3 (Red and White Day):
- 1:30 p.m.—School-wide pep rally in the CAC—All of the fall sports teams will participate in the rally.
- 3:30 p.m.—Varsity Football team plays St. Anne's-Belfield on Thomas Field. The Boosters will be selling food and the PA will have a welcome tent. A bouncy house and other games will be set up for the little ones. At halftime, the Homecoming Court will be introduced and the King and Queen will be crowned.
- 5 p.m.—JV Volleyball plays Timberlake Christian in the game gym.
- 6 p.m.—Varsity Volleyball plays Timberlake Christian in the game gym.
- 7 p.m.—Bonfire at Hooper Field. The Upper School and the PA are hosting this event; hot dogs and pizza will be served. Bonfire ends at 9 p.m.
Saturday, Oct 4
- 12 p.m.—Girls Varsity Field Hockey plays Trinity Episcopal School on Thomas Field.
- 2 p.m.—Boys Varsity Soccer plays Grace Christian on Thomas Field.
8 p.m.—Homecoming Dance for upper school students at Metamorphosis in downtown Roanoke. The dance will feature DJ K Kiss, a "London Underground" theme, and our Homecoming Court will be presented for the final time. The dance ends at midnight. Tickets are $15 (cash or check only) and can be purchased by contacting Liz Holt.
