Let's Be Careful Out There

I was working the lower school carpool the other morning, in the cold rain, when I noticed a mom that had pulled into a parking space rather than using the drop off service. Some of our younger children want their parents to walk them in, so I understand. What caught my attention, however, was that she stood in the parking lot with three children under the age of five, one hand on her umbrella, with keys in her other hand while trying to open the rear hatch of her car to get backpacks.  And her children were standing right next to middle school parents zooming by in their cars…in the rain…Ouch.

Campus Update

Christmas Parade

Be on the lookout for the North Cross float at the â€œDickens of a Christmas” parade tonight. The Boys' Middle School White basketball team will ride on the float while Upper School students walk alongside handing out candy.

Students from all three divisions worked very hard on this float under the direction of Community Outreach Coordinator Alex Hash. We look forward to participating in one of the Roanoke Valley's best holiday celebrations and hope to see you there!

Tree Lighting and Bonfire

The annual Bonfire and Tree Lighting is becoming a favorite holiday tradition for the North Cross community. Members of the North Cross chorus sang carols and younger guests had a chance to meet with a special guest.

Thank you to the Parents Association for organizing this popular holiday event last Friday evening!

Understanding School Finances

To help parents understand how the finances of North Cross School work, three short videos have been added to the website. The videos use the information shared by Dr. Proctor at his “Finance 101” parent meeting back in May. The videos are on a page titled “Finance 101” under the “Parents” tab on the school website.

Using figures from the 2014-15 budget, the videos provide an overview of the expenses and revenue of North Cross School, and a demonstration of how a typical classroom is funded.

Visit the Finance 101 page on the school website.

Big Flea Work Day

A Big Flea work day is scheduled for Monday, December 21, beginning at 9 a.m. Any amount of time you can volunteer that day between the hours of 9 a.m.–1 p.m. is appreciated.

Our big flea shed is almost full and we must make room for more donations!  We will be cleaning out our trailer and working to organize our shed. Students in the Upper School can earn community service hours for this workday. Please RSVP to Elise DeMoss at 529-9285 or elisedemoss@gmail.com if you are planning to help.

Big ticket items are still needed for the sale! Call Elise to schedule a pick up of any furniture you'd like to get rid of!

Parent volunteers are needed for our "Meet me Monday" drop-offs from 3-4 p.m. Please contact Elise DeMoss if you can help run a drop off session
