Field Day Order Forms Due May 1
Big Flea and the Olde-Tyme Family Fair is right around the corner on Saturday, May 11. Mark your calendars, gather your donations, and get your order forms for wristbands, t-shirts (shown at right), class pictures, family dinner, and bake sale to your division office by May 1.

Don't miss our first Student Art Show and Reception on Monday, May 6, at 6:30 PM in Logan Gallery (Old Slack Hall). The art show will feature artwork from NCS students in grades 5-12. All families and friends are invited.

Summer Reading Book Fair is Coming May 6-10
Summer Reading Book Fair is almost here! The Book Fair will be held in Hancock Library May 6-10. (Monday-Thursday 8:00-5:00 and Friday 8:00-1:00) **This is a change from the dates in the school calendar.** We hope you will stop by to take a look at the wonderful titles that have been selected for our summer reading list. We will also have copies of the Senior Favorites from the Class of 2013, as well as the faculty & staff favorites. Be on the lookout for more information coming home about classroom visit times. Earth Day River Clean Up
To help North Cross School celebrate Earth Day and demonstrate plastics’ permanence in our world, internationally-known Dr. H. Bruce Rinker led a hands-on team experience, then spoke to middle and upper school students about the significant global impact of water-borne plastics.
Early Monday morning, Rinker led a group of students in a North Cross community clean-up of plastics and pollution from Tinker Creek. Working in a small area, the 20 students worked on the shore and in the water.

International Dinner Band Story

Bukuru Celestin is a refugee from Burundi who treated his North Cross audience to a joyfully upbeat night of original Afro-beat Gospel songs with his sisters. Celestin developed his music at the Jefferson Center's Music Lab. He arrived in Roanoke in 2008 and, because of the support received from the Jefferson Center’s programs, has been able to develop his music to the point of releasing his first CD this summer.
